Neales biggest problem is he's hesitant. He just needs to launch at the footy and not worry about which team mate or opponent he crashes. He needs a sports psychologist as he actually has the athletic profile and the skills.

Absolutely agree with this comment in regards to being hesitant and the Magpies game in stages was another very good example of this...... good call Pure_Ownage:

Also, it was pleasing to see him being more competitive in the ruck, he currently still lacks ruck-craft which in his early development and mainly playing forward is understandable but he's improving which is all you can ask of any footballer, especially of someone so young in big-man terms.

And if you're referring to the possessive in regards to Mullin, such as "Mullin's never had 20 disposals" - at least use an apostrophe
It's bliss being semi illiterate I don't see any of what's being discussed here until someone points it out and then I couldn't care less anyway as long as I can get the guts of it.I only care about the content.

I'm referring to Darcy Cameron not Jeremy Cameron.

Darcy Cameron was in the best 4-5 players on the ground I thought. Collingwood dominated clearances and he also went forward and looked dangerous (kicked a goal). Collingwood dominated hitouts and centre clearances and I thought that helped give them the ascendancy.

And he was #1 ranked player on the ground - but I see he didn't get a coaches vote

I thought we must have been watching different games when I first read your post. You replied to a post showing Jeremy's stats which confused me (and a few others) but all's well that ends well, at least we now know you haven't taken leave of your senses. :)

Warhorse:.... bloody hell it's hard work reading your on-going negative posts, however I really enjoy reading most posters on the Geelong Bigfooty forum and I do have some real favourites as they are so switched-on when it comes to football matters and knowledge. But just seeing your avatar in a thread is cringeworthy alone, coz more than likely I know I'm gonna read something negative but also on many other occasions you write with utter ignorance and with no understanding of the game as all you seem capable of doing is quoting stats...... so pleased that our coaches don't view our players or the game as you do.

You're a lone figure who in my estimation knows very little about football or either than that you're trolling... but either way I'd rather you follow Richmond coz that's where many of your posts belong.

I know we've been tongue in cheek here, but to be serious for a moment, it actually wouldn't be super difficult to invent some tech to give umpires a perfect way to measure 50m.

1) Put 3 calibrated sensors around the ground, at set positions.

2) Give the ump a sensor that allows them to push a button, triangulating their world position with the sensors.

3) They run out the fifty, and as soon as the sensor has moved to the edge of a 50m radius from the starting position, it lights up.

Done.
Or just mow the grass into 10x10 squares as a standard

He certainly isn't a lone figure on Clark.
All of Clark, Clohesy and Knevitt give us below average output - even compared to similar age and experienced players across the league.

Warhorse: I'm not into blocking anyone, I just find you a very hard read at times but that is my issue no one else's. But I do like to let people know where I stand, good or bad if it plays on my mind. I'm not one to hang on to things and let it bottle up inside of me, I've been this way all my life. Hopefully things will get better for me in the future with regards to me with you, so I will look forward to future posts from you with interest.

PS - I do realise Warhorse: stats are important but they are only a guide because there is so much else to see if we look hard enough which in recruiting terms allows us at the Cattery to find hidden gems and I really do enjoy that side of things and then of course we have the slow development from that point where patience is required and stats become nowhere near as important. And because I breed thoroughbred racehorses in a big way and in breeding terms you're as only good as your own broodmare band, which in footy terms is your playing group, there are many similarities when identifying a class broodmare that will take you places, same as a young draftee or even a player not playing in the main system that has been overlooked, best regards Richard 👍 and GO CATS !!!

50m long telescopic pole that the runners carry out when required

Also bring back hats that you throw on the ground to show where you took the mark

I am not a crackpot
Or someone could measure how many normal umpire strides equals 50 metres, say 40, and when the umpire sets off, the crowd could loudly count them. This would increase fan involvement and be a learning tool for some of them.

I'm more generalising in regards to Warhorse: than being specific although I have no doubt Oisin Mullin will make the grade. Jhye Clark's 2022 National Draft barring the top 4, has turned out to be ordinary at best but we still live in hope that at some stage Jhye will take the next step and make the grade, but pick 8 in that draft is far, far different to most drafts.

With all of Clark, Clohesy and Knevitt we will have a far better indication of their future prospects or NOT by seasons end but given at present we've been very aggressive with trying to bring in proven aged midfield talent into the club does suggest that all three have their limitations.

We have a Hinkley thread?

"Had” - it got locked a long time ago

"Ken Hinkley Envy Thread" - wasn't started as a thread to shit on Scott, instead was started in recognition of what Hinkley was achieving in his first couple of years at Port and if we should look at him as the next Geelong coach

By the time it was locked for the last time, it became more of a Hinkley Roast thread

Shouldn’t be that hard to stride out 50m. Surely they practice that…

Harder to judge 15m on kicks.
I suggest that they change the kick rule to 20 m. This really gets rid of dinky kicks and easier for umps to judge but gives receivers time to adjust/react when an accurate or erroneous call is made.
Takes too long. Now the umpire further down the field sets the ‘mark’ from where the 50 is taken from, so the player can sprint there as quickly as possible and play on.

I do wonder if one umpire can stand where the 50 was given, and another where the mark is being set, whether there’s a technology that could assist and read out distances into their earpiece.

What we really need are cameras with better than 30fps. The footage of the Blicavs touch was a bloody slide show.
You can't really do it, unfortunately.

The goal mouth is too big, high speed cameras are pricey and you'd need to be able to have it at every ground the game's played at (TIO, Launceston, Hobart etc).

It's easier for cricket because of the limited window for "action" - but footy's too much.

I don't mind the score review system as it is now - it gets most things right.
