Make him sub haha
Dogs’ fans comments are so salty + hilarious.

Frankly, Baz was played out of position at Dogs, who have a strong midfield. It’s normal to want to play in a position where you excel.

During negotiations + upon joining Geelong they crapped on that Baz was no good, glad he’d left + we could have him, no loss.

Now they’re putridly salty because Baz is playing brilliantly + joked about Ballarat. Baz is right, Mars has a capacity of 11,000. Geelong kept their home ground + continues to improve it + can now hold 54,000. Playing games at MCG are blockbusters! Naturally players would prefer large crowds.

“Speaking to Cats great Cameron Mooney on Fox Footy after the game, Smith said he felt at home at Geelong and was really enjoying his footy there. “They’ve welcomed me with open arms, so I’m just forever in debt to this club. So I’ll keep working my arse off to repay them." 😻
10/10 for saying ar$e instead of insipid ass.

Baz is a treasure. I love him + that sincerity, fabulous player + his antics 😻

Jeremy Cameron is having the worst season of his career. Devoid of confidence and looking very vulnerable in aerial contests. I do wonder if that nasty shoulder injury he sustained last year? Whether that his impacted his ability to clunk those marks forever after.
Umm are you aware of some of his gws seasons? Particularly 2020. The year beofre we drafted him. His first season with us was hardly steller either.

If you have arm free to dispose of the ball you can.

  • 18.6.4 Holding the ball: No Genuine Attempt– Where a Player in Possession of the Football has not had Prior Opportunity, a field Umpire shall award a Free Kick if the Player is able to, but does not make a genuine attempt to Correctly Dispose of the football within a reasonable time when Legally Tackled.
I’m not disputing what the rule says.

A lot of flaws can be covered by a win, but a lot of good can come from them, too.

I'm happy with 5-3 and am still very much in the "let them figure it out" mold when it comes to the forward line. I am seeing a more effective setup every week and they still have only played about 12 games that way, and only six with Bailey Smith leading the midfield charge.

We're getting games into players who need to learn or just find touch. I'm not conviced O'Sullivan is best 18 yet - but how priceless have the past three weeks been for him?

On a side note - how obvious is it that Atkins was NQR last year? He hasn't looked like this since 2022.

PS Before we get carried away with Mullin, we are talking about a guy in the middle who had 9 touches and whose opponent had 28. I'm not saying it's a bust, and I've been calling for us to tag all year ... but I'd want a slightly better result than last night. Still, everything old eventually becomes new again. We can dial it all the way back to the taggers of the 1990s if it works.

I'm amazed how some here question whether Oisin Mullin is going to make, it staggers me. Thank goodness the coaches know and see more in him by giving him every opportunity to make the grade which in time he definitely will. Now if it was someone like Jordan Murdoch who if I was coach would have played no more than 30 games, then you'd have good reason but Oisin Mullin most definitely NOT.

That incident of Gazza Snr giving Gary Lyon one was in '89 when he was at the height of his powers. It was in the first half of the '89 season when the Cats won a massive 3 games at MCG, all with huge crowds against excellent sides in Essendon, Collingwood and the Demons and Gazza was virtually unstoppable. So against Melbourne, the last of those 3 big games, the Demons decided to stop Gazza's influence during game coz once again he was dominating against Rod Grinter for the Demons but instead of taking Grinter off Gazza they doubled teamed him with Gary Lyon also playing on him along with Rod Grinter. And Lyon decided to close-check the 'great one' by virtually half grabbing him at contests, so Gazza must of said to himself 'enough is enough' and he gave Garry Lyon one, with Gazza 'the great one' being reported, then owning up at tribunal because his 'faith commanded so' and he got 3 to 4 weeks which at the time he was unstoppable.

When Gazza came back from suspension, he wasn't quite the same player but he gradually built up his fitness base and 'touch' to then be fully wound up for the 1989 final series. The rest is history as he kicked a record 27 goals from 4 final games and played football at a level that has never been seen and is unlikely to be seen again. That 1989 final series conclusively showed to the football world that Gary Ablett Senior was clearly the best footballer to have played the game in at least the past 55 years and probably the 'best of all time', such was his greatness at the peak of his powers.

It was reported in 1989 that those huge games at the MCG were attracting at least 5,000 additional footy fans from other clubs to watch Gary play..... he was that good to watch and play our great game!
I love all our flag seasons to bits.

But their was something extra special about the 89 season as a cats fan. And ablett ofcourse was the main reason for that.

I challenge anyone to watch that and coherently be able to explain how that isn't HTB.
He is being tackled, the arm with the ball is free, he is upright so he can kick the footy. He holds it in and is penalised like many others have been for years.

Gee, is everyone deliberately misreading my posts and firing up today? Have I triggered a bunch of Liberals or something?

This is correct. Blicavs was definitely holding the ball. Arguably Mannagh and/or Smith should have moved in and forced the ball up, rather than waiting for the ball to come out to them. I think that's the biggest issue. But no doubt at all on watching the replay that this is a free kick against Blitz.

They should have but equally Smith and mannagh were expecting the handball they weren't expecting for blicavs to pull it back in which is fair. Definitely a free though.

Yeah, the reason I say that about Smith and Mannagh is because I would think you should all probably on the same page about what mode we're in. Blicavs was clearly in a shut it down and block it up mode. And that makes sense given the moment in the game.

I don’t have Geelong goggles on. Hill was stiff not to get HTB against Mannagh.

You can’t attempt a disposal when you’re immediately tackled.

You can if you have an arm free to put it onto your boot which he did because it was an upright tackle

Hill did 98 % of things right but the rule is such that if you pull the players leg below their knee which he did-then it's a free.

joe444: I misread nothing about what you posted

joe444:..... in a footballers early development you're always looking for 'moments in play' to see whether a player has the talent and attributes to make it as an AFL footballer, stats almost become 'irrelevant' while they are developing. So quoting stats about a developing player to me is an exercise in futility and says more about the lack of understanding in trying to analysis a young &/or inexperienced developing players potential. But what I have seen in Oisin Mullin in 'certain plays and moments' at this early stage of his development tells me this kid is untapped and it's not a matter of 'IF' he is going to make it as an AFL player but rather how good a footballer he can become.

As an example joe44:... there was 'one play, one moment' in the final against Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval last year where Oisin was in a one-on-one contest against young gun Jason Horne-Francis of which Oisin was slightly out of position which also just happened to be only metres away from Port Adelaide's goal and he ended up through his athleticism and strength 'matching it' with Horne-Francis, that was a 'BIG MOMENT' matching it with the best. That 'one big moment' alone told me that Oisin Mullin was going to be a very, very good AFL footballer in the making but there are also many other examples, hence why I get very frustrated with some of the uninformed opinions in regards to Oisin but also to other Geelong young &/or inexperienced players which seems to happens far to frequently for my liking and which is very disappointing to see and read but thankfully the coaches do see 'the bigger picture' going forward which encourages me greatly knowing we're both on the same page and see the same positive attributes.

joe444: do yourself a very big favour and re-watch the entire last quarter 'which was played in a finals like atmosphere' with both clubs pressure points way above 200, this is one of those moments that I refer to but not just one play, one moment but for a 'entire quarter'. Oisin Mullin was simply brilliant in that last quarter against one of the AFL's best players in Nick Daicos and will be only a taste of what he will be capable of doing in the future. All the best to you joe444: as no doubt, like all of us here on Geelong Bigfooty we're passionate Geelong supporters and GO CATS !!!

We have people arguing that Clark, Neale and Mullins had good games. What a strange thread - they were all poor by position.
