And I'm guessing that the 5.99 is the Dempsey goal following the assist from Bowes.

The question becomes - who missed from there for those efforts to not be 6 as an expected score

Do we go back to Cameron Ling against Essendon in 2000? ;)

I could see Scott giving him 1 - he way Brisbane's best player

Now then, if Rayner got a vote, I'd be wanting an investigation

Put nicely- The overall quality did not match his opponents.
That's why I was calling him Cam Raygun, staging a break kangaroo on the ground.

Perhaps the best thing to come out of the disgraceful Rayner incident is that there are a lot of footy people now calling for greater penalties for it.

Normally calm heads like Rory Sloane, Nathan Buckley, etc have been quite vocal on it in the last couple of days. And was it Justin Longmuir who suggested $10k fines?

I'd be fully supportive. Would stamp that crap out immediately.
Would be very hard to adjudicate I think.
It would be nice if culturally amongst the players all that nonsense was considered shameful and soft. Not just from pushes, but the whole collapsing on the ground thing after getting in another guy's face. Provocation and context should be part of the calculation, and of course demonstrable force.

Most useful, no doubt. Best, I don’t think so…
However probably first picked in any team out there I’d say.

He's an awesome utility, we love that he can pick up Stanley's work, and so busy across the ground, so we may be being super grateful for his pearler of a game. Take away that almighty hook goal, and his set shots been very ordinary of late. The only thing to improve on.

You'd hope most of them want to avoid the controversy, cheat tag. The truth is some players want an advantage at all costs, so if they mayo it up in a grand final, and it works, paying a fine is petty cash. So it's an art form, mostly umps leave it and most of the stagers have been fined after the fact.

Weird that Rayner hasn't been fined, on the official call of no free, it can't be all the umps fault. Just hard to prove, but the AFL needed Wallace to admit he was previously intimidated- or not.

Jack Bowes performance flew under the radar on Friday.
Did some really impressive things.
Loved his intercept, hot step, dinky kick-pass that resulted in Bailey Smiths long goal..

just stood tallin all contests all night. Brilliant kick at goal also. Very reliable with 15-4 for the year..
Flew under the radar for some but he has received a fair bit of praise in here

This is probably an unpopular opinion but it's a hill I'm prepared to die on - Blicavs is the best player in the league for all the reasons outlined above. No other player in the league can do what Blitz does. Some are better at one or two of the roles we use Blitz in, but no-one is as good as all the roles Blitz can play.
I wouldn't have him as the best but the MVP sure as he can play any role on any night and do it well to great.

We have never seen anyone like him and may never again(Goodes would be a decent comparison but still not the same)

At the game it was clear to see what we were doing.

We were set up in a zone in our fwd half and we would stand off just enough to tempt the lions to take an option to pass to and then close in at the player who received the ball at top speed and shut down or slow them down enough to tackle from behind, or the side or wherever. The lions were constantly handvalling themselves into more and more pressure.

It was a very deliberate plan made just for Brisbane and everyone of our players need to be in sync for it to work....absolute Chris Scott master-class.
What will we need to do v Hawks?

As you say, fines aren't much of a deterrent. But he has now earned a reputation as a diver amongst footy followers, and he has well and truly burnt his relationships with umpires - which means he'll never get a 50/50 call in his favour again, not even an 80/20.

Mullin to Newcombe.
MOC to Moore.

Same pressuring approach as against Brisbane.
Beat them on the spread from stoppages.
I like Mullin to Newcombe, although Oisin will need to be prepared for plenty of sniping, pinching and squirrel-gripping. Newcombe is as unsociable as they get on field.

MOC to Moore or maybe Ginnivan?

J Henry to Gunston.

COS to Dear.

SDK to Chol.

And we must attack them and hunt them, freak them out, pressure like they've never had.

IF Hawthorn get over Adelaide, that's one match up we may not need to worry about
