It was a high energy start and high energy finish, with a bit of meh in the middle, but tonight's 12 point win over Port has kept our season alive

But in what's becoming an all too common theme this year, we may well have lost another premiership player to injury - Jack Henry didn't look totally comfortable out there during the early warm up but still took in place in the 22, but reports suggest he received treatment on a troublesome foot during the first quarter before being subbed out in the third and whacking ice on the suspected injured foot

Messi continued his good form this season, and not just setting up goals but also was on the scoresheet himself tonight

The challenge doesn't get any easier next week as we face ladder leaders Collingwood, but let's enjoy this win and the task that lays ahead

Gryan Miers is a jet.

Henry out is huge if true. Cant afford that with no blicavs but lucky his brother is in good form. Sav might get a game next week after all like that spud frampton at the pies.

3 things.

1. Stewart is an absolute gun and just about the best defender in the league.

2. I will keep thanking richmond for bruhn and henry for years to come. Sliding doors moment.

3. I know the selectors will put mids like trac and bont in the fwd line bur miers just HAS to be AA surely? His assist work is off the charts.

Im still not sure how we won that game getting smacked in the midfield that much but im glad we stood up in the last 10 mins. Season very much alive.

I wouldn’t bank on Rohan seeing out the year without another late out or two…he is obviously hampered by the ankle and will be only one contest away from it being a real issue. In the meantime he will take all week to recover to play week after

It was ugly, somewhat unconvincing, but we won.

We're alive for another week.

JH could be a serious blow, but that's been the tone of 2023.

We're going to have to lift against Collingwood, especially with our mf struggling so badly, but hopefully the boys want it bad enough.

Gryan Miers is a jet.
I was so happy for him to get that goal. He came into the team being an F50 specialist, reshaped his game for the entire field and for dishing assists, worked on his left boot....
I honestly think he has taken away his practice time on set shots for goal to work on other skills.

A good win. Port have been a top team and were well above us on the ladder. We don't have the team we had last year (but no other club has a team as good that either this year) but there is no doubt our players kept on fighting until the end. We had players who were down early but the experience of Tom Stewart and Danger's lift in the last quarter helped us steady. Here's hoping for no more injuries, Tomahawk and Blitz to come back before too long and some more players to regain their best form. We can still be competitive in the finals.

What an absolute slog that was. Glad to get the 4 points (just) but if things don't change in the next few weeks, we've got an early exit.

Miers was unreal.

Bruhn was really solid throughout. Some strange, strange, strange selection decisions and matchup decisions. Kolo thrown under the bus by the Rioli matchup. Jack Henry similarly by being thrown up forward.

If you put anyone else on Rioli, Port don't get 3~ goals and the game's probably over before half time.

Sav marked well, made a few odd decisions but gets a pass mark.

Stewart was hideous in the first half by his standards, but came around mid-way through the third and had a big last quarter.

Parfitt was great when he came on and should come into the midfield to give someone a break - not sure who.

Stanley largely useless - turned it over, almost no follow-up but wasn't alone in that regard.

Atkins battled hard.

Bowes did the 'extras' well - flew the flag, got involved physically etc

Umpiring was horrendous both ways. That Dangerfield HTB was mind-boggling.

Dunno how we're going to beat Collingwood, but here's hoping. Daicos, Murphy and Mitchell out will help, but it may not be enough.

Holmes is a real concern, he looks to have gone backwards same with SDK, both are offering nothing at the moment. Sav should play for the rest of the year and i never thought i would say that, he was probably our best in the first half.
Holmes last year was on the wing and coming off half back where we exploit his pace. Except for that 5 win window in the middle of the season,we aren't playing him there. He has attended way more centre bounces than you would expect as well.

I am not worried about him what so ever, if we had 2 extra quality mids you could leave Holmes out on one wing, Smith on the other, and they could do what they did last season.

Gryan Miers & Tom Stewart were superb tonight.

While our midfield was beaten and, at times, our defense was leaky, the guys did enough against an undermanned Port to win the game. We won the contested possessions this week (I think), which is a big improvement from last week. Not convinced we'll make it to the finals, but it was nice for the boys to redeem themselves after the terrible performance last week.

Outside mids always look bad when you're getting smashed on the inside

Stewart had 3 possessions and 4 clangers at quarter time. Ended the game with 23 possessions and 5 clangers. Was massive in the last three quarters, especially in the 2nd half when Port were really pressing.
