Can’t get over Father Time … Not to diminish his efforts prior to this year but he has definitely lost a gear.
Here's what he said in a recent interview.

"I've really enjoyed the pre-season and when you're feeling really good in your body and not as injured you enjoy football a lot more.
My body's feeling really good and touch wood I haven't had too many nasty injuries, and because I hadn't come from a contact sport up until 21 maybe my body's feeling a bit fresher."

So in 243 minutes of game time, he's conceded 4 goals. That's honestly not bad for a player some fools were calling a 'liability' and saying 'will never make it', just last week.
It’s exceptional. It’s far better than I thought and the detractors can GAGF I think.

Ah the "Blicavs role" - endurance runner, key defender, ruck, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, ruck-rover, forward, wing, third-man up (defunct), intercepter, tagger. What else? - basketballer, chess grandmaster maybe. Does he do steeplechasing? 😀
Haha the "Blicavs role" the last few years was simply "be a really tall midfielder, outlet kick on the wings or drop just in front of CHB. SDK was doing that last year.

Its not the "Blicavs role" from 2018-2022 where it was "go and fix whatever problem we have".

Blicavs can't play middle anymore outside of relief ruck. How does an aging mid who only gets 12-15 or mostly ordinary touches a game help fix our midfield problems?

And when Conway is back that pushes sdk back to defence making kolo the fifth in line tall.
Im not saying what I want, I think Blicavs best position til he retires is tall defender/occasional back up ruck, its what I wonder if the coaches will do that because
1. COS is now a (great to have) selection headache, so we might now see Kolo/JHenry/COS as our key defenders.
2. Midfield is still a massive concern, and Blicavs still has elite running ability. Could see him being put in when teams get a run on to try and defend it.

Some coaching assessment by Adam Simpson from the Brisbane game featuring Clark. Notes that Clark's ball use was quite smart and he basically creates his own inside 50.

That is exactly the sort of stuff that should be on most footy shows, or podcasts. Talking about actually playing the game rather than flavor of the day 'news'. I'd rather the Cats pod dissect tactic at that sort of level.
As an aside, Bartel mentioned that back in his days, on kick outs, the center square area was a 'no standing zone' or something. Fascinating. :thumbsu:

The reason why gossip permiates the landscape is simple, everyone can report on the same thing. Player talking to X club can be re-reported by everyone as if it was new. Analysis is only presented by the person generating it. You can't plagiarize it without looking like a thief.

Fantastic footage, simple way to educate the public on the football innovation we started in 2022. What Brisbane did wrong in in the 2023 grandfinal and the change they made since.

Simmo is really great for the game analysis. He was on crunch time after opening round and gave really great insight on the transition for Cox from assistant to senior coach and how that would affect what moves he would be willing to make. So much more interesting than the regular hot takes
