From reading these forume I always thought Richmond and Hawthorn had a spite thing going with each other but after this morning's two 'pearlers' from catman I'm wondering what Geelong are so jealous about.
First questioning their backline and then questioning their kids. Are you Catters so jealous of Hawthorn or is it plain, massive insecurity to a team that thumped you twice last year and over the years plays Kardinia park better than you do?

People in glass Geelong houses shouldn't throw stones. History will shiow that last year NEITHER of you made the finals and that they twice whipped you.

Most of Geelong's spite is directed at Carlton, Hawthorn and the Eagles it seems....hmmm wonder what these 3 clubs have in common for a Geelong supporter not old enough to see their club win a flag.........

Of course! We're still p****d off that we lost those Grannies! You saying you wouldn't??
I hate losing Grand Finals as much as the next person, but most of West Coast's trolls are aimed at Freo and Adelaide, not Hawthorn and Sydney.

The question was asked why some Geelong fans seem to troll Hawthorn, I simply answered there seems to be a pattern amongst a couple of the more bitter Cats' fans.

To tell the truth, I don't think Catman is being entirely unreasonable. He's asked questions of our list, but not in an agressive way. They're ones that can be answered fairly easily.

I've got nothing against West Coast or Hawthorn, but I don't like Carlton, Adelaide, Collingwood and Sydney.

I don't think any Geelong fans are jelous of Hawthorn, there really isn't much reason to be, except for the 80's glory, but I was born in 88, so I couldn't really care less.

Let me explain.

Hawks fans on this site are absolute f%^wits, im sure most people would agree not just cats fans. Apart from that they also love hangin it on us mostly as they seem to think beating us conquered the world as we were the best when they beat us, then we hit rock bottom - they love it.

Guess they have not achieved much else lately. At least we have some silverware from pre season cup last year.................. The older ones may still be hurting from '63 aswell. Hawks '89 was a long time ago to.

The years it will take to win a premiership for the hawks are counting up and up and up and wont stop for a while. Maybe they know its gonna be a while before they win one therefore have to pick on other clubs who have had a drought before they get to our point.

The other teams we troll WCE and Carlton. Well do i need to explain? Probably not but i will anyway................CHEATS!!! There is every reason in the world to have a go at these clubs. The clubs should not have supporters they have both disgraced themselves permanently. The fans dont deserve respect for supporting them.

And you dont deserve any respect for supporting a club that has achieved nothing in over 40 years. Get a grip on life mate, your club is pathetic and so are you.

Mate it is bloody easy to jump on a successful bandwagon. Its hard to walk away. You should. I was pressured to support collingwood by family after the 1990 GF but chose Geelong instead.

You love the free ride to success dont you? Let me guess you chose your club after they had won 15 flags? Thats big of you.

I'll put my hand up as the most bitter Cats fan there is, bar none.

Hawthorn has a large contingent of smug, arrogant supporters that grew up on premierships every couple of years. Because of this, they pontificate about the values their club has compared to other teams and why that has made them successful (team orientated, family club, bollocks like that). Which while tiresome and annoying, is almost understandable - until you move to the last 15 years. Fact is they've been as crap as anyone in that period but they still won't shut up. I'm taking great pleasure seeing young Hawthorn fans realising that maybe flags don't come along that easily after all. It's nice to see other teams enjoying the same black world Geelong fans do. I daresay St.Kilda, Melbourne and Footscray fans (maybe Richmond too) know what I mean.

And for the really dumb fans, I know you beat us twice last year - so what? We thrashed you twice in 2004 but don't go on about it. It's ancient f**king history.

And for the record, I don't hate Hawthorn in isolation - I violently hate them all.

Disagree with this.

Hawthorn fans only turn when you troll us, leave us alone and this 'smug and arrogant' attitude funnily enough disappears. There is nothing wrong with flying the flag when an opposition poster posts something which is clearly wrong.

* I'm not alluding to catman's threads when I say this.

To be fair, I've got some mates who are Hawthorn fans that only rub it in absolutely excessively and know their footy pretty well. So it's not an all-encompassing rant.

For the most part, I can't be bothered trolling. Takes too long and I'm normally busy sticking pins in my Mark Thompson doll.

As a Geelong fan I wish the Hawks all the best and as I am sorry for Hawthorn with the treatment they get. Only have to look the way Hawthorn have been treated with hardly any games on FTA as well as the draw they have been given the last couple of years. Well collingwood and the special treatment they get, that really get's my blood boiling.

Define 'pearlers'.

Those threads are not trolls, just posing some reasonable questions. What has an Essendon supporter got to do with it?

As has been said, why would we be jealous of a team that regularly finishes below us, and before last year we clearly had the wood over?

I posted this before, but I think it's worth another look.
It's basically a snapshot of the last 20 years of Hawthorn mastery over Geelong.
Of all the clubs in the AFL, I feel the sorriest for the Cat fans. Even during our ordinary last decade, we've still managed to cause them plenty of grief.
  • 1987 Round 22: Jason Dunstall knocks the Cats out of the finals race with 2 goals in time-on at Kardinia Park.
  • 1988 Night Grand Final: Defender Chris Mew roosts the winning goal from 55m with seconds remaining.
  • 1989 Round 6: Hawthorn turn around a first-half, 10 goal deficit to defeat the Cats, 26 goals to 25.
  • 1989 Grand Final: Hawthorn defeat Geelong by 6pts in one of the greatest GFs ever, Dipper and Dermie both climb off the canvas.
  • 1991 2nd Semi: Hawthorn def Geelong by 2pts, Jarman kicks a wonder goal from the Member's forward pocket to snatch the lead in time-on.
  • 1995 Round 7: Hawthorn (8th) beat the Cats (4th) on Geelong's own dunghill
  • 1996 Round 15: In spite of a rash of injuries, the 10th placed Hawks beat 5th placed Geelong by 2pts at Kardinia Park
  • 1997 Round 12: 10th placed Hawthorn upset the 3rd placed Cats by 6pts at KP, Daniel Harford kicking the matchwinner from the boundary line
  • 1999 Round 21: Hawthorn eliminate Geelong from finals contention in a 2pt thriller, Crawford seals his Brownlow with a BOG and a match-saving tackle in the dying seconds
  • 2000 Elimination Final: Hawthorn (8th) defeat Geelong (5th) by 9pts
  • 2002 Round 22: Geelong are bundled out of the top 8 when they lose to the Hawks by 18pts.
  • 2006 Round 3: Hawthorn send the premiership favourite's season into a tailspin when they shock the Cats in Geelong by 52pts
  • 2006 Round 22: Hawthorn give Johnny Barker a memorable send-off, thumping the Cats by 10 goals
  • Since their last flag in '63, we've won 8 premierships.
Never mind Partridge and Lunchlady Doris.
Although your handbaggers may never win another flag, at least you know they'll always be competitive.

You can stick your handbag tag, and your selective editing of the years post 1991, up your f**king a**e. When they do send your lot over to Tassie permanently, I'll make sure to dance on your grave.

Strangely enough, I somehow recall beating the Mayblooms once or twice in the last 15 years. Obviously those results slipped the net. Maybe only the Grand Final results matter, that's fair enough. The head to head score is one-all.

You're quite right - you've won 8 flags since our last one. We won 5 before your first one. Wow. Melbourne won 11 before your first one. And so it goes.

This surprised me actually Chewy, as your posts are normally pretty level-headed and reasonable. I guess my comment about the smugness of some Hawthorn fans was obviously incorrect.

It's amazing. I have four mates who are all mad Geelong supporters and they all say the same thing about Thompson. One almost slit his wrists when he found out Thompson had been kept on as coach.

I'd slit Thompson's wrists happily. No I wouldn't. I'd push him down a flight of stairs first.

I know you've beaten us plenty of times; I wasn't trying to skip over this, but point out how in the last 2 decades, even when we've sucked, we've still managed to upset your applecart. Think of all the the times we've knocked you out of the finals, or knocked you out of the finals contention.I can safely say and without a hint of irony, that Geelong is Hawthorn's biatch. Now get down on your knees, boy. I want to hear you squeal like a pig!

When they do send your lot over to Tassie permanently, I'll make sure to dance on your grave.
When "they" send us over there permanently, it will be over my dead body.
I've already decided on my epitaph: Here lies Chewy, Hawthorn fan, he was there in '89 and sang "We're A Happy At Hawthorn" with gusto in the faces of the weeping Cat fans.

smugness of some Hawthorn fans
Like I said. I don't dislike the Cats. I feel a bit sorry for them. So much pain and anguish. So many gilt-edged chances frittered away.

But you guys will be alright. :thumbsu:
You've got that new grandstand. And you've ALWAYS been competitive.
