Anyone who listened was there anything notable?
Sam Maclure: Geelong has little interest in Devon Smith.

Scott:

Speaks about the philosophy of the club when he arrived. Thought in 2010 that they could transition the list but remain competitive, thought that eventually something would have to give in that regard in relation to hitting the draft hard or moving on experienced players with currency. Game changed with expansion and free agency and it helped teams that were up by delaying teams trying to reach the top, and thus our strategy changed accordingly.

Spoke about the players we brought in and that we haven't overpaid for a player (salary cap wise) and that they were aware that if this was to work that they'd have to tow that line. Mentioned that the leadership group have been consulted on all this and had they said no then we wouldn't have gone down this path.

Mentioned with regards to retiring players that being respectful doesn't mean giving them what they want (another year), that the good characters disagree with the decision but realise that they aren't the only vested interested, the club have made sure that 26-27yo players are cognisant of these dealings as it'll one day be them this happens to.

Speaks about his Brisbane days, in relation to what Hawks are now going through.
How the cliff arrived very quickly and it's a difficult time for experienced players who'd once been imperious and untouchable.

Geelong senior players made his first year easy, was worried that they wouldn't buy in to tweaks and changes needed and it'd have made his job very hard but was a testament to their character that they did buy in.

10 coaches at Geelong, all have expertise and have their own way of managing players, aren't micro managed by Scott which helps ensure a diversity of opinion. Hocking/Lloyd pivotal to maintain accountability.

Confirms we aren't rigidly committed to Taylor forward, it was decided just after the PF, Taylor was on board with this move and concedes he looks better in defence but it's been even in Def and Fwd minutes, don't think moving him back unsettled him as it's a natural move.

Feels sorry for Menegola, simply unlucky. Doesn't agree with MRP that Parsons was intentional, but instead it was technical deficiencies. Says they're hard on indiscretions borne out of recklessly not caring enough about the team (ill discipline), not these two incidents.

Senior coach only deals with the most important areas needing addressing, delegates to others other areas. Lloyd is responsible to for ensuring that the coaches time is well managed and utilised so that they're not spread too thin leading to poorly executed coaching and results, assistant coaches have autonomy in their field and players have space in their program to work on specific areas individually as opposed to senior coach autocracy.

Efficiency inside 50 has been a focus from last season, that's led to a change in mindset and rather than blindly bomb long are trying to utilise more handballs to work through a zone.

Black has suffered from being behind some good players at North and saw him as an untapped player in some respects so was recruited for a reason but didn't elaborate on that reason.

That's a big effort to bring that us and I for one thank you greatly.

Oh, I should also say that CS sounds like someone who knows what he wants and knows how to get the best from his team.

Wells just about to be interviewed on SEN.

Quick rundown...not much...

* Loves the new ground
* 3 full-time recruiters, 'a small crew', including new boy Troy Selwood
* not spending much time on the top new kids in the draft, due to first pick in the second round
* Gazza - 'no comment'
* Menzel - ready to talk to him
* Bews - ready to talk to him
* Kolo - 'in discussions - will get sorted soon'

Really typical Wells... politician a much as talent identifier but I liked this line identifying coachable talent rather than mentioning skill etc. Shows there are reasons why they select players based on stuff that is not always apparent in 2 minutes clips.

Gazza is coming, and cheaply.
It's already been agreed to by both parties, hence why Ablett is giving his all now ... I have noticed he's also protecting his shoulder a little.

The ultimate footy fairy tale.
GAJ returns, we win 2018 flag, GAS helps coach our forwards, Menzel NS.

Its an underrated character trait. ;)

Highly recommend getting the chance to see Boris on Open Mike if you can.

Still a Champion. Still missed.

Still probably my favourite player.

loved it. He was a bit nervy going back to Kimba ..didn't want to let anyone down.... drove 5 hrs Sat morning after the Crows game , got there after 12. Cars had been lining the ground for hours , they gave him 44 and he rolled out and got a lazy 52 pos. Arhh... he let no one down. Champion.

SO PLEASED he is still at the club. Even if just one of kids there coming thru pick up his humility, his passion and his ethos, then what a WIN that turns into for us.

Not saying he will create another 332 gamer, but who can't be inspired by that bloke and the way hoe goes about it.
