Inaccuracy remains. Conditional efforts remain.

The only positive from today is no injuries.

Often you start how you finish. 7 goals to 3 in the second half is not good enough. Will be all too predictable if we find ourselves down by 3 or 4 early in a fortnight.

Chris Scott would be quite frustrated.
We finished 2024 by losing a 2nd half to WC.

We won our first final by over 80 points

What happened today will have no bearing on what happens in 2 weeks

I know we only played a bottom team, but Bews is still a good AFL standard player. We’ve clearly prioritised the youth of Mullin and Humphries this year but he would be very unlucky to be delisted.
I think he still has a year in him even if it’s just depth

A game of 2 halves for me. In the first half, Geelong played at high intensity, were so clinical and brutal. In the second half, they put the cue in the rack and played in survival mode to ensure they got through the game injury free.

Zach Tuohy just now on K-Rock about the second half.
"I can safely say they do not give a rat's arse. They are primed."

Hard to assess anything from that game as the second half was just save yourself for the finals.

I get it that we were enough in front to do that and took our foot off the pedal; the issue though is the backline is under a lot of pressure while everyone else has a fat old time with their feet up.

Thought Miers was good in the first half, then got an accidental head knock. Stewart back to his intercepting best. Really liked how his judgment looked back.

I guess main concern is no injuries. Crossing my fingers on Stewart and his collision with Rioli, however, if he’s gone for that our competition is $&#*^+.

Haven’t seen the Stewart incident. Only two questions that matter are:

1. Did he elect to bump?
2. Did he make high contact?

Don’t bother with “nothing in it” etc. These questions is how it will be decided.

I'm not saying it will have a significant bearing but I would be surprised if the coaching staff would be overly satisfied with today's performance.

We missed a lot of regulation targets by hand and foot in the first half and over possessed on numerous occasions and got ourselves into trouble.

The first half was a 6/10 performance at best. I don't care one iota about who our opposition was, we were not sharp.

Danger said it was a little bit concerning but they got the job done. They looked to me like running out of legs, so I hope that's only related to motivation, as you all seem to be suggesting. Although I fail to see how an entire team can take their collective foot off the pedal just to conserve energy and health. Doesn't feel like a Scott directive to me.

Sully in particular made consecutive rookie mistakes in that last quarter, and that's the elephant in the room, like it or not. Our defence tapered off severely. If it's the case of not giving a rats, then Knevitt should have come on much earlier, so they are not serious about him getting a finals run, unless ICE.
You can be grateful for the win, and the well earned ladder position, without being apathetic about letting the easy beats off the chain. Now, we go out to kill for a full four quarters.

This guy has NFI. As much as I rate Bews, you can't look at O'Connor's game last week on Heeney and still want to select Bews over him. There's some kind of personal animus there, I think.

Yeah that's insane. Bews vs Bowes is a closer run thing but they'll go Bowes as sub given he's more versatile.
