Cats I seriously dislike. But it has more to do with the harm they do to native animals than the animal itself.
Let's not forget dog is mans best friend. Cats can GAGF.
By the way Apex36 that's a fine looking dog you own.
Cheers. I'm assuming you're talking about the brown one. He's a pretty rare combination of English Staffy and Bulldog. Lazy as hell, but super affectionate and amazingly gentle with the kids. My son used to try and rip his face off when he was younger and he'd just sit there and take it because he loved the attention :drunk:

Looked a bit more American Staffy in the pic, but yeah that's the one I am talking about. Lots of misconceptions about Staffies, Pit Bulls etc. Those general breeds are actually super human friendly and very intelligent. The problem is some of the morons that own them and what they do with them.

Funnily enough, our other dog is part American Staffy and part..... Spoodle!

We enjoy unusual breed combinations in our household if nothing else!

hittin on Apex's dog Ottoman??.
Seriously the cat are killers argument is a bad one when you are comparing them to dogs. Dogs are big killers of native animals and it's amazing so many people seem to be completely ignorant of the fact. Dogs are big killers of koalas wallabys, wombats, roos as well as smaller natives like turkeys, lizards etc. My neighbor just had 4 chickens killed by a loose domestic dog. I'm always stopping my dog from chasing down turkeys or water dragons! If you had any rural background you would know as well that it's dogs, not cats that are the killers of lambs and other livestock. They will get into a paddock of sheep and rip them to shreds for fun. They don't eat them!! I love dogs as much as cats.. not trying to hate on dogs but this is not a good argument against cats in comparison to dogs. Anyways.. we all know we are the reason species are endangered and extinct.. lets not try and pass blame onto puss and pooch here. And as I already mentioned to Vicky Park, cats don't chow down on toddlers either!

In this Youtube video I rest my case!

I don't like your arguments for the following reasons.
1. None of the animals you mentioned, except the Koala really matter as they are not cute and cuddly. Killing a lizard is hardly as important as killing a Quoll. Just like killing a Sea Gull is hardly the same as killing a Rosella. It's all about the looks Doodles.
2. When I stop to eat tuna which has been fished in a non dolphin friendly manner while I am hunting Siberian Tigers, warmly tucked up in my Panda fur coat I like to think that the real cause of the worlds problems are cats, nothing to do with me. After all I do use low wattage light bulbs.

What a badass cat! Our old cat used to beat up my Staffy all the time. The dog just wanted to be friends but the cat had other ideas.

Poll question is biased.

I should start telling tales of dogs I've known that have mauled defenceless penguins exhausted and washed up on beaches after their summer migration. Or Curlews. Or my neighbour down the street, who was on the wrong end of two poorly trained but ill tempered hunting dogs.

I like both cats and dogs. Niether are angels. In my experience the s**t ones have as much to do with bad owners as anything. If your cat is eating wildlife, put a bell on it and bring it in at night. Take time to train and socialise the dog. Treat em well.

This post is too sensible for this discussion.

And with our cat, he refused to be kept in at night. Would jump on our bed and bite our feet until we let him out. We tried the bell, but they never lasted long around his neck. He always found a way to wriggle out of the collar or somehow divest himself of the bell. He outwitted us.:(

Can you change the biased poll question?

I'm not seeing the bias. What bias? The fact about cats killing native animals? That's a true statement, included in the poll so that voters are aware of all the facts before voting for dogs. I learnt this way of thinking from Eddie.:D

I had a cat years ago, named him Schillaci after a big at the races, he was skilled at killing the local birds so I put a bell on his collar, only to watch him stalk a bird with the bell in his mouth so it wouldn't ring! Smart animal.

For the record I'm a dog man, ashamed to say my Richmond wife named our Golden Retreiver Dusty, but I love him anyway.
