Racing Caulfield Cup 2025

After doing the form, I have come up with Royal Supremecy for the Caulfield Cup. I think Royal Supremecy is a top 4 chance:

Form: Past 4 starts - 1121 ✅

Age - Is a 5 YO (4YOs dominate — they’re fresh, on the rise, and historically the strongest age bracket. 5YOs are next followed closely by 6YOs. Less than 5 winners since 1991 have come from outside these 3 ages) ✅

Sex - Gelding - Since 1991, 16 Geldings have won ✅

Track - Caulfield - No starts ❌

2400m - Yes - 2 starts: 1-0-1✅

Weight - 52.5kg ✅

Barrier - Ideal - barrier 6 ✅

Trainer - Ciaron Maher, already won 2 Caulfield Cups ✅

Jockey - Robbie Doolan - can ride a stayer ✅

Last Start Winner/Placing: Yes ✅

Track Condition - Good: 3 starts - 2-1-0 ✅

Other Notes - Is a last start winner but that race was the G1 The Metropolitan (2400m), that form doesnt usually hold up in a Caulfield Cup❌

I'd like to wish you all the best of luck if you're betting in the Caulfield Cup and best of luck if you're betting on the day in any other races.

Murrell didn’t sound overly confident; didn’t talk it up anywhere near as much as Vauban.

Vauban is better than Royal Supremecy, but with 58.5kg plus the wid-ish barrier (13), there's a few challenges.

Royal Supremecy has quite a few boxes ticked albeit it not as good as Vauban.

Taking their price into account my seedings would be

#1 Adelaide River
#2 Vauban
#3 Presage Nocturne
#4 Middle Earth
#5 Half Yours

Rank F4 runner: Plymouth

Watched the replay of PN 4 starts back in Riyadh 3000m G2 Red Sea Turf handicap worth $2.5million.

It's cherry picking form but stuck on really well for 4th after sitting just behind the speed, the top 3 all came from back of the field and the winner Byzantine Dream went on to win another G2 before going to the arc and finished 5th despite an unsuitable track. Was talked about as being one of the favorites if the track suited.

I'll take an each way ticket and hope for the best, this horse has been given no hope by any pundits that I've seen, they barely mention it. Surely will want it longer than 2400 but barrier 8 will at least give the jock a chance to put it in a good spot. Getting on for the MC too just in case he runs a big race

I would be getting going from the 600m and trying to break them , Best Solution style

Make it a true staying test and PN will do better than most

It is way overs in the market , thanks to Jugada I am on at 51's

Considering it went home equal with Sevenna's Knight (who would be sub $8 here or potential fav) it has been completely missed by all "expert pundits" and media

I'm on at 51s as well. It was 41 at SB this morning (could boost to 51) but has slightly tightened back in to 35

I watched Get On last night and half expected Richo to tip it as his roughie..... but nope

Most of the 'pundits' work for bookies.
If it's not mentioned much I take that as a positive.

So, you can win from anywhere, but generally speaking barriers 5 - 8 the sweet spot, inside barriers poison?

Half Yours is a deserved favourite but $2.80 seems very short at the moment. If it reaches $3.20 - $3.40 I'll be on as I think he's the winner.

Deakin looks the map horse and hated the race shape in the Turnbull. Out to 2400m now a big positive.

Land Legend my roughie speck. Draws terrible but was probably going back anyway and has been racing better than the form guide suggests. Third in this race last year, okay weighted considering, and Turnbull is the right form line.

The overseas horses are worth chucking in exotics. Mainly Meydaan, Golden Snap, Nocturne.

The best roughie is Land Legend. He a bit of an in out performer but on his day can produce a good performance. His run for 3rd last year was very good even though beaten 6 lengths. it was a slow 6 and he is better on top of the ground. Also, Purdon said he had to let go at the 800 because he never settled after becoming stirred up in the gates with a delayed start

Buckaroo was topweight with 54.5 and the minimum was 50kgs he had 53. So even though he has gone up 2,5 kgs to 55.5 he is 3 from the top and 4,5 from the minimum in this edition, arguably a weaker race,
His run in the Underwood was quite good after missing the start and coming from last to finish 5th, so the heath is no problem with 2 good runs from 2 starts on the track

If he performs near his best he is right in the race.

Land Legend much like Zardozi were going panels better heading into the race last year though so couldnt really use last years race as a reference
Zardozi is better on a wet track. Really if you go past HY because he is to short you could go anywhere. So. basing a tip on formlines any horse in the race bar HY has a good run in its form but lacks consisteny. I agree LL form leading into last years race was better. However I liked his Underwood run and forgiving the Turnbull I think he is the best roughie in the race.
