Meydaan and Presage both firming in being a winning chance if so

I can’t believe the price Sportsbet have up for Presage Nocturne. It’s not a strong field and he’s a very consistent performer. His form around Sevenna’s Knight, Candelari, Double Major and Internaute looks very solid.
It’d be interesting to hear from the stable as to whether they see the CC merely as a prep run for the MC, or whether they think he’s a genuine chance in it.

It's a great price, I check nearly every day to see if they've wound it in yet!
I note that the $451 that was available just yesterday with SB for the Presage Nocturne Cups double has now been wound into $200 despite no movement in the win price of either leg.
Have no knowledge of what the stable think but that’s the likely scenario IMO. Barriers are important for internationals who come to Caulfield.
Kergolay form has historically translated best into Melbourne Cup form.
Generally the horses that come via the Kergorlay go to the Geelong Cup and run very well there (Dunaden and Americain both won). Protectionist went to the Herbert Power instead of the CC and ran really well.
Marmelo ran a very good 6th in the CC from a hopeless position at the rear. Manighar ran a good 5th on an unsuitable heavy track running on from well back. I can’t remember others that have gone the Kergorlay-CC route but there are probably a few others I’m forgetting.
Certainly if the plan is to flop out the back then Presage Nocturne won’t have much chance. But he appears to have some tactical versatility as he showed in the Red Sea Turf Handicap.

I don't think he even needs to settle that close to be a legitimate chance. Plenty of internationals that were on a Cups double path have settled out the back and come home over the top to win still

Funny though, the dad of my 12yos best mate works for SPB (front end app stuff, crazy how much more they want to fit into the app, took them 18mths to build 21, 22, 23 etc disposals into the app; algorithms galore). Anyway I sent him a message earlier asking if anyone was looking at the CC market cos this thing is $51, in the race and is $15 some places - nek minnit
