Team News

India (possible): 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Sachin Tendulkar, 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 Suresh Raina, 6 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Irfan Pathan, 9 R Ashwin, 10 Praveen Kumar, 11 Umesh Yadav.

Sri Lanka (possible): 1 Mahela Jayawardene (capt), 2 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 3 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 4 Dinesh Chandimal, 5 Lahiru Thirimanne, 6 Angelo Mathews, 7 Farveez Maharoof, 8 Thisara Perera, 9 Nuwan Kulasekara, 10 Lasith Malinga, 11 Rangana Herath.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at Bellerive Oval often provides assistance to the fast bowlers and players on both sides have observed that it looks likely to offer some pace and bounce. Today's weather in Hobart is forecast to being partly cloudy with a maximum temperature of 20C.

My Thoughts

Sri Lanka will easily seal a final's place by thrashing India by over 100 runs. India will struggle to find a reason to win and will experience another bating collapse which will not see Tendulkar make his 100th 100 yet again (i mean, why would he want to anyway in front of a few hundred spectators). And also, get ready to be murdered when you fly back home

Sri Lanka are a quality team at the moment.

I think their ground fielding is the best in the world.

Players like Chandimal are developing nicely. Had a great series.

Angelo Matthews still has a long way to recognise his talent - has the potential to be an amaxing cricketer.

Dhoni wins the toss and elects to bowl.
IMO its easier to get a bonus point Batting first( scoring big) and the bowling them out for less than 80% of your score than it is to bowl first (get them out cheaply) and chase it down in under 40 overs.

in other news, I put money on Sri lanka to have the highest scoring batsmen. I reckon I am about half way there already :thumbsu:

I've watched cricket for as long as I can remember and this Indian team is the weakest, soft hearted, spineless rabble of a sporting outfit I have EVER seen.

Seriously they can take nothing away from this tour. They came here World Cup champions and #1 test ranked nation. They leave a complete mess. No one, and I mean no one, can hold their head high.

The players get paid millions (while most of their country is in poverty) and are the most undisiplined over rated hacks I have ever seen. Sri Lankans dont even get paid - they are owed money, and look at their spirit. New Zealand get paid crap all, yet perform well above their abilities.

Shame, India, shame. Wont be suprised at all if the population stone their houses and burns karans, and their entire team gets axed cos frankly they deserve it. Debacle.

Anyway, rant over.

India is depressing. In 5 hours they go home with their tails between their legs. The game in MCG will be inconsequential and all it will be is a warm up between Australia and Sri Lanka. And I just looked at BOM the game might have to be cancelled due to rain.

300 up for Sri Lanka.

I think any chance of India getting a bonus point might be out of the question, they would need to score over 300 in just 40 overs. Can't see them getting close even with 50 overs the way their batting is going.

Sehwag playing a big innings is probably India's only chance as he can score at a ridiculous rate when he gets going.

Hasn't looked like it on this tour though.

Sri Lanka chased down 325 in 36 overs against England once just for the heck of it, so anything is possible.

Should be fun while it lasts anyway.
