India still can't make the final, their NRR is still -0.5 to Sri Lanka's 0.1, we would have to flog them more then India did today and that's just not going to happen.

Pretty sure that's not true; Sri Lanka have to win on Friday to make the final...if they lose, it is India vs Us.

Can anyone confirm this?

SL have to win (or tie) against us on Friday to make the final.

This is because India lead the head to head against SL 2-1, so in the even of tied points India will make the final.

Sri lanka and India are both on 15 points and Friday is the last game of the series, so for India to make it we have to take the bonus point off Sri Lanka at the very least, not sure what the situation with net run rates are... if i was Pup id be backing off the throttle if we are absolutely pumping them, dunno if we want to run into Kohli if he's in this sort of touch!
edit: dont you get a point for losing anymore?
edit2: you dont ;) well we shouldnt flirt with form coming into the finals, so we'll see what happens friday! gonna be a ripping end to the series either way

On a side note, shame on you 9/GEM for not showing this live.

I'll still watch it tonight but it would have been amazing to see this live without knowing what happens.
Get a real timezone. Like seriously.

what everyone else said.

different format. sometimes the loser gets a point if they avoid giving up the bonus point.....

Its a shame the WACA never gets a final. Both Brisbane and Adelaide have rain forecast for the 2 finals matches...

gg eastern states. How about giving Perth a go for once...

What the hell happened here? I woke up and looked at the score, did a triple-take when I saw they won with 80 balls to spare. Incredible!

Hilarious reading the first page, everyone taking shots at India for being spineless (I agree) and then the tone just changing within a few posts.

Will have to look for some highlights.

Who do you think the Aussies would prefer to play? The thing is the pitch had a lot to do with yesterday's result. On batting pitches, India will always be a big threat but if there is something in there for the bowlers, the match swings against them.

Not saying Sri Lanka doesn't have a good batting line up because they have. I think the Sri Lankans can play the Aussie conditions better than India.

Just when I was thinking Dilshan and Sanga's tons were right out of the top drawer, it turns out neither of them were even the best century in the match. Or even close to it.

Massively eating humble pie after my rant about India early in this match.

Along with Michael Bevan, Kohli's innings is the best I have ever seen in ODI cricket.

And don't get me wrong I hate the ****.

Heck of an effort by India, Kohli's innings was fantastic, kept thinking India were only a wicket away losing all momentum, but when Malinga goes for 96 off 7.4 overs it seemed India's night.

Been a terrific ODI series. :thumbsu:

what pisses me off is that they took this long to show some heart and actually look like they want to win. they've 'turned up' for 2 and half days in the Melbourne test, and 3-4 games in the ODI's. Just imagine how good the summer would have been if they were this good every ****in day.

Kohli's was the best ODI innings I have ever seen played, by some distance too! Absolutley brilliant and dominant.

His cover drive off Malinga (in the over he hit 24 runs off) was the perfect shot.

Easily the most talented young batsman in the world.
