Constantly named in the best this season, and to be fair so has Grimley. Just watched a small highlights package of last weekend's game and both were very good again. Grim launched a nice 60m+ goal on the run.

It's why Ceglar playing baffles me personally. Inb4 "hurr durr I'm glad you're not coaching".

You realise Ceglar has been named in the bests most times he has played at Box Hill this year. I am still baffled how some posters can't see why Ceglar is, ATM, ahead of those 2 and offers more to our team structure.

I must admit I got a giggle out of his falcon and his attempted shot on goal. But yeah, sure, ahead of Grim and Lowds.

(for what it's worth I'm not even a Lowden fan, but this year he's shown more than Ceglar at Box Hill. I've watched Box Hill pretty closely this season.)

You suggested we use our ruck stocks to rest players despite McEvoy already missing a game and our whole team just coming off a bye. How much more cherry ripe are they going to be if they play even less games in the lead up? If they played badly on Saturday it was not for lack of rest. And to be frank, it was Hale who helped get things going in the middle after McEvoy was subbed. Didn't look tired at all in the second half and in the first quarter we barely had the ball so its hard to see what influence Hale was expected to have up forward. McEvoy was injured in the first quarter but played until half time. That might have had something to do with him playing like a lame duck.

ANY rest at this time of year with the forthcoming campaign ahead is vital, particularly for our vets & Rucks.....This game against GWS is one of the very few occasions in our calendar where we can afford the luxury of doing so!....

It's nice of you to be Frank, but quite frankly I don't see anywhere here where you have addressed my points from an entire seasons perspective!....Your focus on a single game pretty much says it all really!....Perhaps I have over-estimated your focal abilities!

Experience I would suggest. We've already had a shedload of debutants, Ceglar has been around the AFL for a while (with the Pies and with us) and is less likely to be overawed than another debutant. At points on Sat night we had a midfield at the bounce with less than 30 games total experience (Langford, Hallahan and Simpkin)

Don't think that's the reason.

He's just a better AFL level ruckman at the moment than the other guys.

IMO Ceglar has been better than both of them at Box Hill this season, so it's not really baffling.

Ok if I am misrepresenting you I am sorry but from this post it sure sounds like you are talking about the use of our ruckman throughout this season to date.

McEvoy & Hale both look tired & spent to me Carcass....Our use of our ruck stocks truly beggars belief at times....We have both Ceglar & Lowden ready & able to step in and fill a role so as to keep both Hale & McEvoy fresh for the big ones....I'm at a loss as to our clubs policy & thinking here, especially as regards keeping blokes fresh for the entire season....this area requires serious re-consideration IMHO.!

By all means, please explain how many games would Hale and McEvoy need to have been rested in order for them to not have looked tired coming off a bye. What about the use of our ruckman up to this point 'beggars belief'?

For the Record McEvoy had played 6 games in 9 rounds going into the match and Hale had played 8 games in 9 rounds.

Hey, Porcastination, others have said this, but let's put it in point form:

1. The season is only 9 games old
2. We've had a bye 2 weeks ago;
3. None of our ruckmen has played every game
4. Impact injuries can happen at any time, in a game, at training, while hanging out the washing at home
5. If you rest a ruckman this week, how does that prevent him from being injured inthe next game?

Resting our ruckmen this week is nonsense. You rest players later in the season, provided you have enough credit in wins to do so.

You must be doing sum heavy duty laundry there Davo23:p.....Lead underpants?

Can't disagree with your first 2 points, though re point 3: I'm sure a bloke who wears number 20 on his back has played every game!;)

As 4 resting ruckmen being nonsense, then clearly, we have a 180 degree difference in our points of view on this one!

Mc Evoy will likely miss due to a corkie, & again, I would have rested Hale otherwise, but with Mumford in this becomes unlikely!

I will re-iterate my principal point 4 you....With the new cap on interchanges having a deleterious effect on bodies & their recoveries, particularly on veterans & ruckmen, during times where only 6 day breaks occur, or we have a particularly hard run of big games, then resting these blokes as & when necessary no longer becomes a luxury but a necessity.....With 4 good rucks 2 choose from in: Hale, McEvoy, Ceglar & Lowden, there is no good reason why we should not be deploying this strategy now!

Cheers & Luv The Cat!

This is truly bizarre, you stated that McEvoy and Hale looked 'tired and spent' at the weekend and went on a diatribe about how they're being mismanaged and needed to be rested and then when everyone points out that neither have played every game so far this year and that we're also coming off the bye you then make out that you were talking only about their workload throughout the whole year and use sarcasm to pot someone for only focusing on a single game.

But you focused on a single game and you said that they looked cooked in it and that is what he and others were referring to.

To be honest I think you need to take a spell out of your pulpit because personally I've had enough of every thread I open up on here all I see is you lecturing people and telling them where their opinions are lacking. You've got a bucket load of enthusiasm and an amusing turn of phrase at times but you're like the bloke down the pub that's had one too many that you end up regretting getting involved in conversation with because he never let's you finish your sentence before spouting another tedious monologue about how you're wrong and he's right.

I'm quite fond of Bazaar's...... & Diatribe's are my breakfast favourites:p.....As for pulpits & high horses, watch out you don't fall off yours....Thank you for playing Dipper!

P.S...I like you too, no really!

As for Ceglar....Yes that's actually who this thread is about.....He deserves more senior game time. As indeed does Lowden;)

A Bald man on a Tee.Vee series that was popular back in da 70's was fond of saying......"Who's Ya Daddy"!?

But I ain't no 'Suga Daddy' Davo23!o_O

Ceglar did okay after McCevoy was subbed off at half time.
He's been ripping it up for BHH for the last month. Seriously earned his spot this week...

When I look back a couple years ago, our ruck department has such solid depth these days: Hale, BigMac and Ceegs is so solid. Come a long way since Renouf was first choice.

He's right.

Great game by Cegs today....Stood up in the last when we needed him to & against the man mountain in Mumford to broke even. More especially so given Hale went off injured ( Nudge, nudge, Wink, wink )....Yeah, I hate to say I told you so on an old & injured player but there you have it....Lowden would have been by far the better option out there tonite, by far!..... Brishawk & Dipper, I await your replies boys! Davo23, no hard feelings.:thumbsu:

Thought he was solid today against a quality opponent.

Agree i really liked his tap work again today and held up very well against Mumford.
Also did extremely well handling the ruck work on his own in the 2nd half.

Is coming along okay. Was better than Hale today.
One of the very few rucks at Hawthorn in recent decades that actually leaps into every centre bounce.
Lawrence was probably the last.

Not to mention his work around the ground....His skills, decision-making & mobility for a bloke of his size are exceptional!

Thought Ceglar did pretty well today, particularly on his own against some pretty quality opposition in Mumford. Not bad around the ground either.

If Hale misses next week we could certainly do a lot worse than a McEvoy/Ceglar combo. Missing one tall target up forward but Hale hasn't exactly been killing it up forward of late anyway. Chance for TOB perhaps? Or Big Boy resting in defence and Shoe goes forward?
