Don't know why some on here still think that he's Hale's replacement. They are nothing alike. There's a good chance that Ceglar will one day become our number one ruckman rather then that forward/second ruck.

I think that is probably right.
I do see him as our number 1 ruck, maybe just resting forward.
I don't see him as the guy who also goes forward to kicks goals.

Big Boy is our Hale replacement, if he cna get his body he should also play the role better ~ minus the goal sense but that made from his ground coverage.

Agreed - Big Boy is a great pickup and will be our number 1 ruck going forward when healthy.

Hopefully Ceglar keeps hitting the scoreboard and can take over from Hale. Otherwise as good as he has been for 8 games this year he won't last compared to McEvoy.

If you had told me last year after Bailey retired and we recruited McEvoy, that McEvoy was struggling to get a game I would have declared you cray cray but he really has turned into a handy player young Cegs (only just turned 23 as well).
Right now regardless of how well McEvoy is going in the 2's, he won't get a game unless Ceglar drops off as that's who's role he has replaced. Maybe Big Boy could replace Hale but I haven't been much of him as a forward so idk how he'd go at AFL level trying to kick a bag. Maybe experiment with it during the Dogs or Dees match?

Nothing alike? Serious? Both can tap well, both can take a contested grab around the ground and both can kick a goal when going forward. They are very much alike. You have to remember Clarko demands his players to be able to play more than 1 role. Whether Ceglar is our number 1 ruck or not, he has to be able to play forward too.

When people are saying he is Hale's replacement it means we now won't have to worry about Hale retiring, we will now have 2 young Ruckman to go forward with in McEvoy and Ceglar. I was concerned last year how we would replace Hale and Bailey, Hawthorn have addressed this in style.

Right now I would say he is our number 1 ruck, I have long been a fan of his but even he has exceeded my expectations. If he is dropped whilst in this form I will be filthy. We have found a gem in Ceglar.

I think Ceglar is a much better tap ruck than BB. The upside is higher too.

As for Hale, I think Lowden would be a good replacement as it would give us some serious height that would demand a good tall defender and he knows how to kick a goal as well.

Hate to break it to you WWSD, But Ceglar is already our number one ruckman & with a bullet to boot!

When you look at Ceglar and Hale each players bring something different and they have their strengths and weaknesses. With Ceglar he's more a ruckman then a forward and Hale is more a forward then a ruckman. I'd say Ceglar's mobility and follow up work around the ground is much better then Hale, hence why Ceglar is better in the ruck then he is up forward. The good thing about Ceglar is that he's won more then he's lost in the ruck contests this year.

I love Cegs,

Haven't had a young ruck like this for Yonks. The problem I see with Big Boy is that he is a horrendous tap ruckman. Great around the ground, but for heaven sakes, Tom Derickx was owning him in the centre earlier in the year. Cegs beat both Zac Smith and Robbie Warnock (who are both centre square ruckman only) then owned them around the ground. Broke even with Cox and NN too. We have never had a ruck that can comfortably beat their opponents, just battlers that try to scrap it to an even contest. Campbell and Bailey good examples of this, Taylor and Renouf bad ones.

I also dont see why big boy can't play forward like Hale. What does Hale have thet Big boy doesn't. They are about the same speed, Hale is no better mark than big boy, couldn't say he has a better tank either. Why couldn't big boy play 70% in the forward line, would be a good target to bomb to.

How good is monkey? I believe he was the one who saw real potential in Ceglar. Thank you Collingwood for your two big gifts.

IMO Cegs plays until his form drops, and Big Boy is back up for him or Hale. I am a big fan of BB also, and think we have a real good group of rucks for the future. LL put even more pressure on when he got his chance.

Take a look at Hale's finals series last year, it was massive.

I think he has the runs on the board as a forward vs. what is only perhaps potential on Mc's part.

I think this idea of trying BB in a predominantly forward role has merit. We've only seen him used up forward sparingly. Saints supporters seem to think he's a reliable shot for goal too.

I think Cegs is a good lead up forward. he leads like a full forward. Hale is typically underrated as a forward because he is a genuinely good lead and contested mark. It is a shame his form seems down at the moment.

Is Hale getting more attention now that Buddy is out of the picture? I think Hale is a good player but does not seem involved as much of the play as last year.
Hence it may not be a form issue?

Love Cegs, I reckon he is the best of the 2014 additions to the side and ever since the second half of the Port game earlier in the year, has looked to me like out number 1 ruckman . Looks a lot like Don Scott too!

I think what we are witnessing is the fact that our four big ruckmen realize the two positions will go to the best performing at any given selection time. This has produced better performances by Ceglar, and Lowden, and will make for improvement in Hale and Big Boy. That's all good for the club.
