Yes it has carbs too I know, but much better for you than rice
That really comes down to your individual goals.

Sweet Potato has less kilojoules, protein (marginally), fat (marginally), carbohydrates (a lot less) than brown rice.

One could argue it has less diversity in the kitchen too

It also depends what you use it for. Rice is often used as the main or equally main part of the meal, so we end up having a lot of it in the meal, which means you get a big hit of carbs. Great if you're an athlete doing a run the next day or going to the gym all the time like those ridiculously muscled up freaks with tiny testes, but not so great for your average Joe behind a desk.

Sweet potato tends to be a side. EG those sweet potato chips I mentioned, you'd only have a handful as part of the meal, not have it being the meal itself.

Suppose it comes down to preparation too. You're drizzling on oil so that's adding fat. Whilst they may be good fats (depending on the oil you use) it is still upping your kilojoule intake for the day.

Rice can be the main part but that comes down to the individual and what you are adding with it.

Just spotted this post by one of our bay brethren ... Can't stop laughing

Why is USA's emergency number 911? Is it 911 because of 9/11 or is it just the most crazy coincidence in history?

Another cooking tip: get a full piece of rump from a butcher. Wagyu if you can but that's quite expensive. Tasmanian grass fed rump is really good too. Not just a rump steak you hipster dufus', the FULL rump, get your oven at 180, oil it, salt and rosemary (love them together), roast to medium rare... Have that with the sweet potato chips and have some green beans, blanched and finished in a little butter.
So easy yet so delicious. I rub some cracked pepper on it too. Use the juices and make a gravy. Cut it up and put it in a roll...:eek::eek::eek:

I've experimented with a few different rubs and dukkah but I find the basic way is best. I prefer roasting the potatoes with rosemary, oil and garlic.

Interesting

Rice FTW because of that massive 0.3g more protein per serve

That fat would be plant-based fat also which is good for you in moderation.

Sorry meant to say pepper, too. When I say salt I usually mean salt and pepper, do them together almost always.

Agree re basic, but I do have a ripping lamb rub a chef friend of mine told me about. Agree re the potatoes with rosemary, oil, garlic - same way as sweet potatoes. I do the regular potatos in chunks for the kids that way often, they come out beautifully.

I love mashed spuds or boiled spuds with curries, satays, ragouts etc
Mashed spuds is my favourite. The recipe that comes with the thermomix is brilliant. cube 1kg worth of potatoes, chuck it in for 25mins with milk. Add in a pinch of salt and pepper, butter and Parmesan. 30secs more. So bloody good.
