Are there penalties for that?

Apparently, $180 a day for every day you don't comply; that said, there are three adults in my house, how exactly do they determine who 'failed' to fill in the form properly and fine them? If everyone denies filling in the form and says they don't know which of us filled it in, what can they do exactly? They can't issue a fine to the 'house' and expect someone to volunteer to pay it.

Last I read was end of August, where did you get that from as I too might wait it out until contacted.

I saw that on Facebook, posted by a girl I went to school with.

Who would send the fine to?
Never filled one out and never will.

I got chased twice for not voting but never over a census.

They say they can fine you $180 per day that the census remains unsubmitted after the 9th of August.

That seems extremely harsh.

Fine me all you want but my name is not going on the Census and it is just the Govt being nosey pricks wanting to know everything about people.

The deadline for delivering a completed Census for every Australian household is September 23. That’s the word from general manager of the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Census and Statistical Network Division, Chris Libreri, who told News.com.au that despite August 9 being D-day, “no-one has ever been fined for being late with their Census form.”

That $180 daily fine, along with another $1800 one-off penalty, is for those that refuse to complete the Census entirely, for whatever reason — including an ideological objection to the idea of any Census whatsoever, rather than just an objection to supplying personally identifiable data. Senator Nick Xenophon will not be supplying his name, but going on the ABS’ comments it’s not likely that he’ll be fined — even if it’s just to make a public example.

I had a family friend try to get in early and fill it out yesterday and the site crashed on him 3 times and he gave up!

the reason there's the census 'night' is because it narrows down people who are at other dwellings, also lol at being busy whilst dicking around on bigfooty.
