Tooley going with the Melbourne based coaches by the looks of it.. how does that play out for the locals not accessing their coaches

Yep theres some serious coin there, hopefully they land McCombs brother too, but its a long way to travel and coach

The Golden Rivers teams need to start recruiting now before it's too late. I think Ultima are the only one of them teams who have recruited anyone at the moment and that's only one player.

Macorna appointed a coach that has brought recruits with him unlike most of the other former GR clubs.

think there original desire to move was more a around sustainability.
They knew the GRFL wasn't sustainable long term and was going backwards real fast. They forced the hand of the league to do something.

You cant knock them for doing what they feel is best for their community long term.

Yes agree but it’s not sustainable
It’s going to be who can survive the longest until clubs either die move or merge anyway

Haven't the club got a crop ready? I just dont think they are going to get in a bidding war either and end up paying a guy 2k a game. O toole is a great appointment as the colts coach, like whos coaching tyntynder 3rds? If youre a young guy around swan hill and want to improve wouldnt you go to ultima over tyntynder?

Looks like Moulamein are having a crack, but last year, there recruits only played enough to make finals, but its really short term fix and unless they go picola in 2027 they are stuffed long term.

Wandella and murrabit i worry about, they both need a point of difference from kerang, theres not enough kids in and around kerang to have 3 cmfl teams without getting smashed each week. As soon as one team gets smashed, who wants to play footy there and kids will move to the more successful club. Both clubs had guys play 2 games in thirds and fourths last year, im not sure how theyll go against the strong junior clubs let alone senior footy. Looks like macorna will play 4 grades of footy in the lvfl and have recruits. I wonder if both clubs will follow next year.

Then theres the big push for another league between Swan hill and echuca.

Justin Ellis is coaching Tyntynder colts. Has played a lot of very good football and coached the senior side not too long ago. Great appointment.

That’s the point. Is that why they have been able to recruit? Or just money?

New coach bought 2 from Inglewood. 2 mates of 1 of the recruits signed as well. Big gap between CMFL and LVFL in standard

Yep this is why I do feel sorry for these clubs. They are stuck in a league they can’t really compete with and they don’t really have anyway to attract players without spending stupid money. Macorna now have less travel for recruits and don’t have to find the same quality to compete.

No doubt Nullawil could’ve came from GR to the CM and probably been a powerhouse but even they were smart enough to look long term, be proactive and merge.
