Is it going to be a top 5, 6 or 8?
Anything larger than a top 6 would be stupidity, but then dont put that past the CMFL board, they aren't brain surgeons, not even close. Albert Einstein once said, "The difference between stupidity and genius is even genius has its limits".

Top 6 with a wildcard 7/8. 5 plays 8 and 6 plays 7 first week of finals is my mail
I personally think that is a stupid idea, the league will drop off dramatically after the first 5 teams. Hands up who thinks Wandella or Moulamein are going to get within 20 goals of Lalbert or Woora for example.

Well Moulamein might recruit just enough to make the 8, like they did last year. I see a number of clubs are providing their ngrs to try boost their recruiting funds, this will only end 1 way, a loss of clubs in 2-3 years

Trent,
I dont think Moula could make the finals (top 8), they are so far behind the top 5 teams its not funny and then they are still well behind the next rung of Boga, Balranald, and Swan Hill and those clubs are recruiting enough to try and stay relevant.

Ultima and Hay were above them in the GRFL and they are both recruiting and then there is Cohuna and Kerang which i know little of where they are at. All these teams will be above them I believe.
They are coming from too far back to make a top 8, look how hard it was for Koondrook in 2025 to catch the top teams and this year I think the standard of the top teams has gone up a notch again.
If Moula want finals then the board better make it a top 12.

Moula made the top 8 last year in the GRFL, as there are only 6 teams in that comp, they finished 2nd in '24 but got knocked out by Hay in the prelim final.

I will also go out on a limb here and say this year we could have multiple century goal kickers the ways things are shaping, as there will be such a disparity in quality and depth.
My 2 cents worth.

Lalbert -
2026. Jack Hickmott
A warm welcome to Jack Hickmott who officially joins the Eagles in 2026
Jack comes to us from Pyramid Hill where he has played most of his senior football career reaching several Grand Finals along the way.
***********************************
Tooleybuc
2026 Charles Bettiol
Quick on the boot and confident in front of the big sticks, Charles Bettiol will be a welcome inclusion to the Saints’ squad in 2026!
Charles joins us from Burleigh AFC, where he spent the season getting back to his best after a break from footy in 2024. While the majority of his career has been (successfully) spent in the forward line, Charles has recently developed his craft to moonlight as a mid, giving him versatility as a role player; a trait that we will look to take full advantage of in the new year!

Murrabit get a big bodied mid from geelong, who should be a good pickup

Whats the burning question for each team in the top 5 Trent?
Woora - can they maintain the hunger and been hunted all year, i think they can

Nyah- 2000 revisited, can they gell

Lalbert - massive pressure to break the drought, are allens tactics enough against the big boys in finals

Cohuna - no toma no monti no finals

Raiders - gone for all new recruits, can they play against rhe big boys, in woora, nyah and lalbert - Atwell and bremner can they be the best young combo in the league

Can’t see Barham improving yet. Lost Neal, Corvo, Reeves etc. Demaria may want to bring a few more in. No doubt he’s talking to players but does he still have the ‘mojo’ to jag them?

I'm interested in Tooleybuc and what level of improvement they have. Outs seem unknown? 7 announced, and only McDonald gone? Best side they beat last year was Koondrook by a kick.
