2nds Centrals vs Port Adelaide - Round 18 @ Elizabeth

Saturday 24th of August 2:10pm at X Convenience Oval.

For people that can't make it to the game the digital pass this year is similar to last year. If you are a member of one of the 8 other SANFL clubs you get every SANFL game (including all Port home and away games) live for $30, non-members of those 8 other clubs have to pay $60. Or for a 30 days pass it's $6 for members, $10 for non-members.

Cox should be back after his kidney injury. Game is before the AFL game so someone will be held back as an AFL emergency.

There could be a number of in and outs due to the AFL selection.

Qualifying Final against the crows in the 1st week of finals confirmed. So this game is a dead rubber.

Could as many as 3 players be held back for the Power on Sunday depending on the result in Ballarat?

As a Doggies fan that wouldn’t be a bad thing as I’d love to see Roy Laird (a REAL coach unlike a certain muppet) finish his coaching career a winner in front of his home fans.

Marshall and Ladhams must play; otherwise, they won't be able to play against W. Lakes (unless we snick the AFL Finals, but that's beyond the point).

I reckon only 1 player will have the last AFL game off.

Roy laird is a pussy who was too weak to test himself at the highest level. Took over a club that was already set up on the back of others plus long time salary cap cheating..

Centrals. The club who achieved nothing until the big kid (PAFC) left the league. Will never be worthy of any respect.

If the AFL side doesn’t finish in the top eight
Players would have had to qualify during the SANFL season if the Crows don’t make the AFL top eight.
To qualify, players must appear in more SANFL games than AFL and play three games after June 30.
If a player competes in Round 23 of the AFL and has met the above qualification requirements, they can play in the SANFL finals if their AFL side doesn’t play finals.

Sorry, but this has to be one of the dumbest comments I've read today...
While there is a slight element of truth to it, im just stirring up a central supporter that comes on a port adelaide board and says he hopes centrals beats port in a game of footy.

I think Ladhams will play SANFL.
Marshall should too. Chances of making afl finals very slim. Playing him in an sanfl finals campaign will mean more that a shitty half arsed escort cup match v peel thunder.

On the chance the bulldogs lose and the power go through, Marshall plays finals for the power, but that's unlikely.

Now I'm not saying this to upset you. In the words of Hinkley "let me be really really clear on that". The true Port Adelaide would not give one iota of care about Laird's last game and would do what's possible to spoil the party. This modern version of Port ... is another thing. I want to see the true Port but we'll see how deep our culture issue has fallen.

In order to qualify for SANFL Finals, Drew cannot play for the Power, while Sutcliffe and Lienert must play for the Magpies.

Ladhams and Marshall were the only one that have qualified that played for the Power past weekend. They should be dropped.

Howard, Motlop, Lycett, and Duursma could all be called up without interfering with the Maggies.

So, this would be my call:

Hayes - Frampton - Woodcock
Sutcliffe - Marshall - Motlop

Ladhams - Trengove - Drew
Butters - Atley - Mayes

Frederick - Lienert - Hewett
Grundy - McKenzie - Garner

I/C
Johnson - Farrell - Cox

IN: Cox (from injury); Ladhams, Marshall, Butters (dropped)
OUT: Lycett (Power), Howard (Power), Pudney (omitted), Strange (omitted)

Guys, as an example, McKenzie is qualified for the sanfl finals, but if he plays against Freo then is he able to play against the crows (sanfl) in the sanfl qualifying final? My understanding is that he won't because he has not officially been omitted by the Power. Am I right? I am pretty certain this happened the last time we played in the sanfl finals but I can't remember which player it happened to that they couldn't play the following sanfl final.

I'd think he'd be eligible assuming we don't make AFL finals, which we almost certainly won't. Once we're officially out of the AFL finals then it would just revert to eligibility rules.

I cannot locate an official document that is current. I still think that if we lose against Freo then Marshall, Drew and McKenzie will not be allowed to play in the sanfl qualifier the week after (which is the afl bye week). I'd like to be wrong.

1 of SPP, Frampton, Sutcliffe and Mayes won't play this weekend. Reckon it will be SPP because he's not qualified for SANFL finals.

Gotta a bad feeling about this game, ever since I heard a Central's player interviewed last night, that this was Roy Laird's last game as coach. I completely forgot about it

The Centrals boys will lift for a bloke who coached them to 7 flags from 9 grand finals in a row and has been at the club as a junior then seplayer, assistant coach or coach for about 34 of his 50 years.

This wont be a normal 2nd v 7th end of minor round game with 7 wins difference.
