If you do a quick google search , you will find that some clubs do get govt funding.
You are generally ill informed about how the new team will operate and whats involved. It will operate the same as any other club including the saints who have big debt. There is no other code being played in Tasmania such as in Vic, NSW and Queensland therefore the supporter base is bigger for football. Where does it say that you need a decent (whats your definition of this?) crowd to survive? I gave you the estimated crowd numbers which the government and the AFL are comfortable with but you are not. All clubs get AFL money and Suns get the most but that will change when the Tassie team comes on board and they will get funding to the tune of $20 million per year and this will keep going for as long as the Suns have been getting it. The AFL will always have this money due to broadcasting rights and paying no tax. The Tasmanian Govt will put in as much as is required. Sponsor ship deals will be smaller but plenty of them. A fact is that a lot more people want to go To Tassie than want to go to Melbourne and they will fly over and watch there team. I can give you any amount of statistics relating to finances, crowds etc but I have gone over this before as have others. The only thing that will hurt the new club is if they are not competitive.
If you live in sh**t creek, then I hope the fishing is good there.. but you wont catch me going for a visit.
