Wow. It’s just getting worse. To top it off, we likely won’t have any indigenous representation in what’s supposed to be the centrepiece game of Indigenous round.

I don’t think the latter is for lack of recruiting indigenous players, AMT stepping away, Mosquito leaving the AFL and Wanganeen not being ready.

Well I never! 🤣
To whom is XC accountable after, is it ten years (?), that he just walks straight into an extension with the on-field results we're seeing and have seen? It surely isn't on the back of the VFLW alone. The bay-marie in the cafe must have some really decent tucker or something.

Bombers backers call for CEO review

9:11PM MAY 18, 2022

A group of high-ranking Essendon members have written to Bombers chairman Paul Brasher, expressing concerns the club hierarchy has not adequately investigated behavioural issues involving chief executive Xavier Campbell.

The Australian has obtained a number of letters written to Brasher, including two raising concerns around a serious “HR issue” involving Campbell.

An alleged incident involving Campbell is understood to have occurred at a pre-Christmas work party in 2015.

GM of Projects and Partnerships for five years then promoted to Chief Operating Officer in Dec 2013 (with the CEO role left vacant at that time).

Promoted to CEO in July 2014, 7 months later.

Not sure where we got him from prior to 2008, but that’s a fairly long period of time in an organisation. Still ten years less than Dodoro though.

Would have been late 20s at that stage?

Was young for a CEO.
Worked a couple of sports agency gigs prior to joining us

That’s an issue in its self, the ceo should be component to overseas
the whole of the football operations as well. If that’s a flaw in his make up, he shouldn’t be in the role. Do you think gale, Evans, cook etc are told just to run the business, if he is in-component when it comes to overseeing a football club then he should be moved along.
Or not called the CEO…call him what he is…..GM Commercial.

There's no reason a CEO has to be involved with football for the club to be successful on-field.

Whether XC is the right person to be CEO is distinct from that.

Put a good GM of Football in place, get out of their way and let them do what they need to do, that's good management.
It’s quite unusual for a CEO to be hands-off with core business.

Who is the GM football accountable to in your vision? Who directs them?

The Switkowski report is an interesting re-read in terms of how a football club’s football department should be governed.

Love the question in 8.
It takes a strong structure to be able to ask that, get a straight answer and put plans in place to address.
