Post of the year.
The way your mind works is an endless form of fascination to me Magic.
1. What on earth would possibly possess North to trade the right to Horne for anything we could offer them? How would you feel right now if in 2009 Richmond had traded away the right for Dustin Martin and in return got say pick 12 Kane Lucas, pick 18 Luke Tapscott and pick 27 Callum Bartlett, whoever they are?
2. There doesn’t need to be a 2. Just 1. is enough.
3. Your ability to look ahead and cover off every possible angle of a deal that wouldn’t happen in one million lifetimes is astonishing. Just breathtaking. You are a truly amazing person.
But yes, if North want to give up Horne for our two firsts and a second and maybe Joshua Caddy as well, we’d have to take it, because you can never have too many elite generational South Australians on your list that you can later trade back to Port or Adelaide at the end of your window for a good compensation pick.
Thank you. you have put a smile back on my face with your “you” ness.![]()
Well North will not want to rise up too fast the ladder. Its not hard to get to no-mans land ninth there are levels after that to rise to. Its like Richo or Lids where a few stars push you up before you accumulate enough talent when down the bottom and you hurt a proper build North needs. Josh Kelly would have worked against them in this respect to like Judd for Carlton
They need to get KP players yet as well.
They have at least one gun in Tarryn Thomas but have to get a lot of gun youngsters to develop around him and others. We can help with draft picks to do this.
I do not think they would want any of our players since they are in rebuild/development phase. We might even help them by taking players off them in the later years when appropriate so they can get more young guns in their window.
The trouble with Horne for them is they are a small club in a rebuild still ongoing for a little bit and the worry is they invest in Horne and lose him before they can get any worthwhile reward like a Lions or Gold Coast
We do not necessarily want a heap of youngsters but we want youngsters that count and Horne would be that and with the rest of the list we can add elsewhere in other ways so we could give North a lot of draft currency to help their ultimate goals
Horne is not Dusty and he is from SA where Adelaide and Port will come chasing at some point. I have not seen much of him but he is not flawless, a little raw but he is a marker, has a defensive side, bit of zip, inside. I think he would suit us in terms of fit and we can fit him in, not displace anyone and build around him and the rest of the team. Like I said, when it suits he can go back to SA if he wants as our window would probably be starting to come to and end, while for North they will want to keep him is the SA clubs start trying to grab him in free agency etc..
North will need to be a few more years down the bottom to get gun players yet, Horne and Thomas is not going to cut it with the rest of their brigade. They are not the club to get ahead of themselves and try a Carlton either trading players in to
