That's the problem, you sell the farm on a couple of players, then you have to look at the bargain basement backups, even injury ravaged ones that has just been delisted by a bottom four club. And yeah you wouldn't be just hoping that you draft some talent with your 2nd and 3rd, you'd be hoping and 'praying'. Next year it is highly likely Riewoldt, Cotchin and Edwards will join Houli and Astbury in retirement. And Grimes, Martin and Lambert will all be in their thirties.

With all that talent gone or going soon, I'm very leery of any scheme that basically mean that we have no first rounders (unless we trade out someone really good that we probably would want to keep) for four years. And all for just two players (and God help us if one of them got injured).

Anyhow, if it was one first rounder each, I think most of us could live with that, even someone like me that would prefers to go to the draft. But no first rounders until 2024, yeah that's a bridge too far.

I agree largely.

I think I have said elsewhere - I trust the club, and if they think we are still in the window for one more year I am happy for them to sell the farm. Even if it puts us in the cellar for a decade.

We will either:
1. keep winning flags (arguably Sydney, WCE over the years)
2. stay moderately successful without flags (Cats)
3. become mediocre (WB)
4. end up in the cellar (Hawks)

So if we can still win a flag with some of our mainstays I am happy to do it.

If the club decides we are done, or can still contend whilst mainly hitting the draft (doubt it, as we have immediate needs that a draftee won't fix for 2-3+ years) then that is also fine by me.

Stuff Cerra, absolutely not worth that type of coin.

I know for a fact a few years back we were massively into Hopper - sounds like hes staying now anyhow which is unfortunate, hes a beast - would be putting a lot of time into Taranto and Greene trying to get one of them over the line. How good is Greene's aerobic ability? I havent seen enough of him. We all know hes a contested beast and looks good in the clinches, but can he get from contest to contest all day? I would throw everything at getting Taranto if he's gettable.

My targets in order would be
Taranto
Anderson
Green

Clarkson clearly either coaching Gold Coast in 2022 or Tasmania in 2023/24

Here's a smoky - GWS if they fail again under Cameron - if I was Clarko I wouldnt bother with the GC - they're a deadset basketcase and always will be. He'll hurt his legacy by going there

Taranto-7 & 15
Green-2022 and 23 Future first.
Would do it in a heartbeat.
(backend Taranto's contract)
Nah nah nah...

Hopper - pick 25 and 2022's first (or CCJ and a.mix of picks if he wants to go)
Green - 2022 2nd rounder and 2023 first.

Keep 7 and 15 for Hobbs and best available KPP.
Mop up with pick 26 and our 2 x early thirds.
