If we could get him for pick 18 i would do it in a heartbeat. If we can fall to get pick 5 or 6 I would not trade it unless we were planning on trading up in the draft.

But if you could get Cerra for pick 18 & something smaller like a early 3rd - do it in a heartbeat

Straight swap with Bolton is a win for us.
Keeps our 2 firsts for kids who are hungry and get a top 5 pick who also is after success.
Our list needs to be Rejuvenated.
Picks 9/17/25/27 plus Cerra will speed it up.
Yeah Bolton is a gifted player but as i have said is his hunger there?

We need a clearance beast , we getting smashed at contested ball, clearances, cerra is cream outside when others do the grunt work
We need to adress clearances before we look at outside distributors, a contested ball winner should be our number 1 priority.
Yep 100%. Cerra got the benefit of Brayshaw's hard work. Brayshaw killed us, he's exactly the type of player we need.

Cant believe anyone wouldn't consider it for a first round pick. Even day of the week for me.

The way were going our first alone should be just about enough. Probably another sweetener as well. No chance cats 1st alone gets it done.

If jack Graham played a game like cerra yesterday we'd all be frothing over him. Cerra will be a gun and adds something we don't have to the mix.

Do we think pick 5 or 6 in this years draft is going to be better than Cerra? And if so, when do we expect them to realistically make an impact- 2026?

Our early first rounder may be enough, depending on how far we drop. It may actually require a little more, our later 2nd or perhaps an early third.

He looks like a certain 200 game player. You'd take that every day of the week with pick 1 let alone our first pick which will be 8 or so.

Cerra was taken at pick 5 just 4 years ago. He is about to come into his prime and has shown he has the ability at AFL level. Realistically it is going to take our best pick to bring him in.
We spent pick 6 on bringing in Dion Prestia to the club in 2016. He fit the age profile of the group (same age as Dusty, Rance) and has been an integral part of 3 flags. That pick eventually became pick 7 and GC used it on Jack Scrimshaw. Dion could retire tomorrow and everybody would agree that was a fantastic trade for us even though we spent a little more than we would've liked at the time.

Cerra is much younger than Dion, but fits in with the age profile of our next wave of players very nicely. That isn't to say a draftee wouldn't fit in, but how likely are we to find a better player than Cerra with pick say ~9 in the draft? Drafting is not an exact science. High draft picks on average will perform better but there's a large degree of variability. Cerra is a pretty known quantity. He's very likely to be a very good player for a decade.

IMO the only way I wouldn't give our first pick for him is if there's a promising key forward at the top of the draft because that is what we are really missing in our next generation.

I don't mind Cera. I don't think he's a direct need in that he's an outside mid but with the amount of money we'll be freeing up in the next 2 years we can probably afford to nab him this year and go hard at an inside mid next year. We're gonna take a big hit losing a lot of experienced premiership players this year and next so I don't expect any cups but If we play our cards right I reckon we can bounce right back into contention for 2024 onwards.

People have over reacted massively this year about our downfall, facts are we have had no continuity with players and have had very very important players missing most games.

We are in a good position with or without Cerra just need to nail the draft or do a fair trade and not overpay

The AFL planned to bring rules in and have the games flowing but they have done the exact opposite, they ignored the fact that Richmond played a chaotic, gut running, high pressure, knock on flowing game style and brought in rules that have now led to chip chip uncontested footy with the ball and flooding back when the opposition has it all to preserve energy.

Hopefully we can tweak a few things gamestyle wise and have a better run with injuries and 2022 is back on!

This is the way I see it. We've had to spin the magnets not just in terms of positions but also in terms of gameplan to try cover our losses, and a lot hasn't come off. We probably could have stuck to same process and as it turned out, we would've been better. But also would've given us no chance of winning the lot.

Yes I would for sure ! The Dockers have put all the effort into him & it’s about now that that will payoff.

The lower our pick is becoming though is a concern cause that is the one they will want at least & not the cats one.

That won't get the deal done. Values him as a pick in the teens.
Gets them 2 cracks at the first round though and 3 picks inside 30 overall.
