Glad we're out of the race for Cerra. Keep our high draft picks thank you very much. GWS have sold the farm to keep Josh Kelly so now it's simply operation get Tom Green to Tigerland !! 😘

GWS have a big job on their hands keeping the talent they have on the list with the contracts they currently have in place

Coniglio - $ 1 mi
Kelly - $1 mil
Greene - $800k
Haynes - $800k
Whitfield - $800k
Hopper - ??? OOC
Toranto - ??? OOC

Kids they will need to pay bigger dollars soon
Bruhn
Ash
Taylor
Green
Flyn
O'Hallaron

Buckley

This is where we should be targeting just clear out some players like Caddy , Macca , Houli , Astbury , Chol , Castagna , Aarts
Bruhn
Taylor
Green

It wasn't me who suggested the below

O dear. You didn’t follow the conversation in its entirety, did you? Maybe try doing that before you chime in.

I know you’re having a bad day. You’ve spent months quoting stats and posting essays about why we should recruit Cerra all for the club you support to decide he’s not worth pursuing. It must be frustrating knowing how wrong you got it.

REPORT: ADAM CERRA DECISION DOWN TO TWO CLUBS
BY SEN

Adam Cerra is set to decide within weeks whether to stay at Fremantle or request a trade to Carlton, according to Fox Footy’s Tom Morris.
The 21-year-old is out of contract at the of the year and has been weighing up an offer from the Dockers for months, but has yet to re-sign with two regular season games left.

According to the report, Essendon and Richmond are out of the race to secure his services after opting to prioritise other areas.
Cerra is one of the most in-demand players ahead of this year’s trade period, with the Blues expected to part ways with at least one first-round draft pick to secure his services if he does decide to head home to Victoria.

Funny how one “Reporter” comes out and says it then they all copy him by saying the same. Never believe what Tom Morris has to say

Not fussed on Cerra, 750K is way too much for him and I believe carton is the only club stupid enough to pay that. Much rather Tom Greene if available.

You listed 13 players you'd take ahead of Cerra and said therefore we should use pick 14 on him. Those were your words not mine. Pretty clear what your logic was.

Not having a bad day at all, but given you're so gung ho about winning an internet argument here's something to brighten up your day

I was responding to someone who was using that logic to determine what Cerra’s trade value is. Given you now know this, I’m assuming you’re going to call that person out?

And there’s also nothing wrong with redoing a draft to determine a ball park trade value for someone. Sure as hell beats whatever criteria you were using to conclude that Narkle will go for a second rounder.

I’m glad you’ve admitted you got it wrong. You could’ve just read my first post in this thread and saved yourself a lot of time.

Nice essays and stats though 😂😂😂

Poor campaigner will have the stigma of living up to that wage and watch TicToc Morris be the first to aim an article at him. Whatever its all said and done till you hear from the horses mouth, like when Buddy went signed for GWS.....

wait...didnt he..

Reading between the lines, Essendon (who are following the Tigers blueprint) and us...won't be offering a top 5 pick/and/ or 600+k per year but the Blues will pay thru the roof so they continue to have 3 A graders, 4 B+ players and 18 x E graders in their best 25 and pay overs to anyone who's played 2 good games in a row.

What does this actually mean !
The way i read this is that it could be 1 or 3 things

* Richmond has had prelim talks with both Freo & Cerra on what a trade would look like and have either been put of by The money Cerra is demanding is way too high or what fremantle's expectations in a trade is too high.

* Richmond list management & recruiting have a high opinion on players that would be available at our picks and feel they would be better served by going to the draft and taking 2 kids on min salary in positions of higher need.

* Cerra wants the money he is being offered and only Carlton from Victorian clubs can get close to the $750k a year

Very happy with this outcome
I have always said he is a nice player and would like him at Richmond but for only 1 pick #10+ and $450k range

LOL thinking that because you name 13 players you'd prefer over Cerra that it equates to using pick 14 on him. 🤣🤣🤣

I'd like Tom Green but there is about 50 players I'd take before him, so does that mean we get him for pick 51. 😂😂😂
Would love to see a list of the 50 from the same draft you’d take over Tom Green 😳:drunk:

Well to give a guide….Aiden Bonar who went at a similar draft pick to Green, was traded out to North for essentially a pick around 40 in the draft.

Read about it here:

But the most relevant bit:

"Bonar signed a two-year extension before he had even played a game and is locked in at the Giants until the end of 2021.”

It was commonly reported at that time Bonar was given away for such a low pick to dump his salary - around $450k.

It appears obvious GWS have followed a similar path with Green. Other circumstances may differ so they may be able to retain him, or given he will attract much better draft picks than Bonar they may be happy to lose his contract.
Bonar was and is a shit campaigner though. No wonder they wanted to dump him
