My membership pack came today, and it's not bad... except for the fact that you have to go to the Lexus Centre to pick up your hat. I know someone already complained about that on these boards, but my complaint isn't so much that as it is the fact that I was there a week ago... I purchased my membership FROM the Lexus Centre, and asked if they had anything for me... and they said I had to wait to receive it in the mail! WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST GIVE ME MY CAP!?

On a somewhat related note, my sister has been ranting anti-Collingwood slur for the past half hour as soon as she saw that I'd bought this year's membership, telling me that she wrote to the Pies last year telling them that I bought an 18 game membership despite having Lymphoma and knowing I wouldn't make it to many games (I made 4 or 5 in the end :\). I think she was expecting the Club to give me some free stuff or something (no idea why) but instead they didn't respond to the letter at all, and she's enraged. I dont have it in me to be overly angry at CFC, but I can understand her point of view. If I'd done the same for her, I'd be pretty pissed if whoever I wrote a letter to didn't find the time to give some sort of response.

I am buying a AFL membership just over the crap that comes with the Pie memberships AFL also seems the better way to spend the money

Last year's membership was a total, total stuff up for me and I believe it was to do with the transition of Collingwood outsourcing the membership dept. I actually ordered the social club membership in late 2006 and didn't get my membership a week before the first bounce!! They "mis-placed" my order, then sent it to the wrong addresses from 3 years back and then had to re-process it. This was despite me ringing up on several occasions with pretty of time for them to get their act together.

I didn't actually get my medallion till about 4 weeks in.

I've gone the AFL membership this year. The club still gets money from it so there's no great loss but if I hadn't have had the stuff ups from last year I might have joined directly. The AFL membership really does have too many benefits too for the same price as the social club one.

Yep, they hand them out just outside the Ponsford stand and put a little notch in your membership card.

They even hand them out at the family day if you end up going to that. Thats how I got mine with my AFL membership last year.

The cap thing is annoying, but the other is really poor form. I imagine that your sister's letter went astray, or failed to reach the right person. I'd say if it got to anyone who mattered, they'd certainly have acted on it, given the club's activities in the commity.

a thank u letter would have been nice, but chill out - you don't have to buy the bigger membership and re the hats there is 40000 of the things, the pick up system before games is the best way to do it

Learn to expect it mate, the club rarely responds to e-mails from my experience.

It took me 4 e-mails and they didn't respond till I told them I was sick of them ignoring my letters and not helping me solve my issues so I wouldn't be renewing my membership. They replied then.

They have responded to any email I have sent almost immediately.
The renewal process cannot be easier.
They send you a invoice (renewal form) with your details and due amount.
It can be paid online, sent to them by mail or you go directly to Telstra dome and lodge it.
On top of that you can go to any 40 games a year of your choice.
You get access to the first 3 weeks of the finals for $12 (last year) - any game. Grand Final ticket cost $90.
I also get to go to the cricket for $15.50. Sit in N24. The seats are as good as any in the ground for viewing the cricket.

I wrote a letter to the membership department a year or so back ~ never got a reply, made me feel like not resigning up, I live in Hobart and friends of mine got the same deal ~ pick your cap up from the L/C or the MCG tent ~ problem is they do not go to Melbourne ~ fortunately I was able to get their caps when I was over, one would think as a matter of sensibility the club would post caps to interstate members, the club states over and over that membership is the life blood of the club - yet the clubs membership department seems to treat the hands that feeds it with distain.

On a more positive note I have done some international flight bookings with 'Pie in the Sky' ~ they have been perfect in every respect, wonderful to deal with, return calls as soon as, look at all the available options ~ best travel agent I have dealt with in a while and from my experience the two departments in comparision 'Like Chalk and Cheese'

I agree, the AFL membership is the best option.

Very good value too. The main hiccup for people is the joining fee, but after that its really quite affordable.

AFL Membership is $600 but that's about $250 for the sign up fee and after that it's about $350 a year. Plus an extra $60 for Collingwood supporters which covers 6 of our bigggest games during the year.

It's a lot of money but you can do monthly payments which I'm doing now though I haven't heard back from them yet after I faxed off my details last week.

to be fair though,
i ordered 2 memberships, 1 for me and 1 for my partner.
and of course they sent them both with my name on them....der.
I queried it - i got a response within a few days and then got a new membership pack with all my partners details within 3weeks.

ok, there was no email telling me that one was on it's way and i was left in the dark as to what was happening a litte, but to be fair, it was taken care of in a timely fashon.

i can understand the hat issue but in all seriousness its a shame u only got a to see a few games due to your issue but you cant expect the club to give u free stuff cause ur sister wrote a letter?
I wonder how many of these letters the club get and how many r genuine? im sure yours was but the club has no obligation to respond to your letter and has no obligation to send u freebies.
You purchased a 18 game membership and thats all they care about, if u cant make all 18 games they are not going to give u discount or anything to make up for it.

Sure it would be nice to get a response and something back but u cant complain if they dont and its no reason to not get another membership

Where did I say I wanted free stuff?! That may have been my sister's intention, but I agree with you in the 'how many are genuine' query, and was using this as an excuse when my sister was raging.

It simply would have been nice for them to give some sort of response, even if only for my sister's sake since she's the one who put the effort in
