So dont measure. Just because you see me using my dick and you are not as well equipped, doesnt mean there should be rules against me using my dick.

Not a sparky.
And i dont lift too much these days. Im disabled now. Still lift what i can.
And im not in an office because i never want to be. My job does require a functioning brain.
Lol?
Thats an insult?

Tragedy. Nobody should ever go to work and not come home.
How come the poor man wasn't wearing a harness, I thought that was compulsory for people working off the ground?
You only need a harness if you are working close to a live edge ( Unprotected fall / Drop off etc ). The man in question was using a scaffold to gain access to his crane which he drives everyday. Scaffolds that are complete are meant to be safe to use for walkways/access and working platforms so who knows what happened at this stage and how he fell from the scaffold.
Agree and while i may be biased as i work in the industry and am a Union supporter, IF Grocon is found to be negligent in a way that contributed to this mans death they need to be taken to the cleaners.
The worst news is the fact that this mans wife and family are getting a knock at the door by Police today or the worst phone call you could ever imagine informing them of this tragedy.![]()

When I read the sad news this morning I knew this thread would be bumped.
'It's too early to play the blame game...' & 'If the company....' is just 'I'm not racist but...' in a different context.
If you feel the need to pass comment on a tragic death before the reasons behind it have come to light don't hide behind platitudes.
Still thought he'd have to wear a harness, attached to the scaffolding.

No.
Complete scaffolds are equipped with safe decks to walk on and handrails all around whilst having stair access or ladder access's to get to higher levels etc. ALL scaffolds are meant to be signed off by a competent ticketed scaffolder before use or they are out of bounds until they have the safety tag attached informing others that it is safe to use. Unless you actually climbed through the handrails or removed walking planks and/or handrail barriers themselves it would be impossible to fall from one.
For the record all scaffold components should be checked for wear and tear as clips do break off over time and fracture etc and who knows what happened with this poor guy today. I am not going to go into what sort of safety checks Grollo has on their sites and the quality of people erecting the scaffolds as it is useless until we know what happened.
CFMEU will be all over this though and rightly so. Every fear they had for this site just became reality.![]()
Of course it is going to be bumped when the safety concerns and unqualified labour of this site were what lead to the picket line in the first place and now we have a worker killed.
Are we not allowed to discuss this now??? An honest family working man was killed today.
Discuss all you want, but have the balls to stand by your convictions.
If you think it's Grocon's fault, then say so.
You can't say it is anyones fault until a report comes out from worksafe highlighting what went wrong. I have never said it is Grocons fault so do not put words into my mouth. I stated the truth that the CFMEU had safety concerns for this site and that was it and now a worker is dead.
