I would love to see the WAFL/SANFL/VFL approach the AFL and try to get the state league games (or at least some of them) packaged as part of the new AFL broadcast deal with 7 and Fox.
The exposure would be good for the state leagues, who the majority of the AFL playing stocks are developed through, so this could be seen as a positive for AFL (even though they are a different body to the state competitions - it could still be a win win)
It would lock in coverage for an extended period of time, rather than year to year coverage.
Ideally the WAFL would be willing to move some of their games from Saturday arvo to allow for features such as having East Perth play before Eagles home games, same for Peel & Freo. The TV production equipment would need to be in place for the AFL game so it would be a cost effective solution to get coverage. Still plenty of holes in this argument, such as 5.40 Friday night games, WAFL member gate takings/seating etc, but it would be something that could be worked on.
