I

If he trained away from the main group today, you would think he’s in major doubt for Sunday.

If he doesn’t play this weekend then either they mislead us about him being managed, or he has gotten himself injured even while being managed. I hope nether are the case & he takes his place in the team.

You lost me at Robbo.

No deal.

Robbo never makes anything good.

Can you get me some saganaki though?

Hence the discount re.. enough to tarnish anything really.

Be great if we had a bigfooty hall of fame.. I think I'm worthy of being the first inductee re.

Only if you are inducted as a Legend.

Not this basic hall of fame.

Only as a Legend!

It's a concern that despite our ruck dominance we are getting beaten at the clearances. There is room for a first use on baller to improve us. It's a real shame about Sier's injury query from the VFL because I think the time was right to bring him in. On the back of some solid form and with a few injuries to other players. But it's hard to do that now if he is anything but 100% fit and confident.

Not cool teasing Dave boys.
Beg yours?
I was only making note of thread title and linking to Mr Bowie.

Re Dave? Sorry don’t get how you could ever think I’d even think of doing what you suggested.
Thread title has nothing to do with Dave.

I do think Frankie calling the thread which happened right at the start, was a nice doff of the cap to the late David Jones (aka David Bowie). Was clever thread title.

Now that’s cleared up, back to the changes.

In: Wells
Out: Varcoe (injured)

Ok Saintly.

Plough looks like a burnt out rice bubble. David Neitz was talking through his nostrils. I'll give you both their signatures at $34.95.. I'll throw in Robbo's signature.. so make it $24.95 for the 3. Mates rates re.
I know Schwartz when he was a teenager. I can't help but chuckle at the fact that he has spent the last 15 years earning a living through his words.

Out-Varcoe In-Wells
Out-Cox (rested) In-Mihocek
Out-Greenwood (not tagging, not playing) In-Wills

Grundy to ruck; should be right with no Sandilands, and Freo having no second ruck.

What's all this talk of Wells 'might' get up.
I know they lie constantly but even Buckley said this was the plan for Wells from the beginning and will only miss one.

There's a little bit to read into Trav Varcoe's comments;

“Give Daniel every chance to get himself right,” Varcoe said.

“I think he’ll be fine, but we’ll just leave that to him and the medical staff.”

Doesn't make much sense if he was just rested and it was planned all along.

Buckley was also somewhat vague about Wells’ chances of playing when interviewed on the weekend.

Maybe Wells just isn’t fit enough. If that’s the case I would prefer Murray come in.

My Daughter was given a 4 game Pies membership through Auskick the other week.

She also got emailed two Adult tickets for this weeks game.
I have just downloaded them.......if anyone is interested just PM me your email address and I will forward.
Kids get in free this Sunday also.

Cheers

Watch the replays where Grundy wins the tap and we lose the clearance. Mostly Grundy appears to be dropping the ball down close to the tap. The mids are getting blocked and not getting to the fall.

This is a communication or strength issue in the contest. Either Grundy has to tap wider or punch the ball or the mids need to time their moves and positions better.

Adams was cut to shreds in the first half against the dogs but De Goey was able to turn the tables early in the second half.

The obvious one is Wells in for Varcoe (if the club is to be believed that Wells was rested).

But then after that we have to start looking at making long-term changes, for the betterment of our future.

Appleby will go out for Maynard when ready. This week would be a good opportunity to bring Maynard back, even if he needs a run, why not do it at AFL level? He's still an upgrade I reckon. And that's not taking anything away from Apples, he's been brilliant.

Daicos should come out too. But probably for Varcoe when he's ready. Hopefully we can get both Varcoe and Wells playing in the same side.

And then we have Mayne. I actually originally had the above sentence written with Mayne in it instead of Daics but unfortunately, I do put Mayne ahead of Daicos right now, short-comings and all. Having said that, with a shuffle we could bring Murray back in his place.

But I digress, for this week, lets just say:

In: Wells, Maynard
Out: Varcoe, Appleby

Yep there is definitely a disconnect between Grundy and the mids at times. However De Goey showed a class on baller will make a difference. Ideally it would be De Goey there with Elliott forward. But I think the timing would have been good for Sier outside the possible injury. It may need to be a combo of De Goey and Wells this week with time split forward and middle.

I'd give Maynard a week in the Magoos just to make sure he's cherry ripe for Melbourne. But only because Appleby has done well enough to keep that spot for another week.

Sometimes Grundy actually gets in the way trying to follow up his own work. Even around the ground he should be putting on blocks for smaller players to take possession but is tending to try and win every contest. He needs to realise he's not a mid and get out of the way/block. He's too slow to take possession in close. Out wide in space, that's great.

Agree with most of what you have said apart from the Young Marvel, I think we need to pump games into him, he has poise, he makes good choices and clean disposal, I have a feeling about him. Before anyone says anything yes, it could be his name but I do see a very competent footballer there.
