Chad Cornes - Highly Overrated

I'm sorry to say this mate but really silly question.

They have had numerous years of Port domination pre AFL, it's only natural they hate the Might of Port Adelaide. They are the all sorts after all, we are the only original club in the AFL outside of Vic.

Let them hate us, the more times we beat them in showdowns in the near future, the season proper, finals.. the quicker they will go back into their own shell.

Remember this, they are the ones who started all the hatred, you don't see as much over in WA... why? Well you work it out. Think 34 Cups in an expanded trophy room. Cry me a river pansy Cwow corp.
103 premierships >>> 34 premierships :D:D:D

Why would they hate you because of previous success in the SANFL??? The Adelaide Crows weren't a team were they???? Just stupid cross town rivalries..... Of course Freo suck

What a joke. The Power is the second SA composite side and is Port Adelaide in name only. Do you really think you could have won the 2004 premiership on the ability of Port Adelaide players alone? You keep on talking about how great you are because you made the AFL then sometimes in the very same post talk about 'pre-AFL'.

You (Port fans) are always talking about pre-AFL because you knew who you were back then, now you're not so sure. You're always talking about pre-AFL because you used to win a lot more flags back then. You're always talking about pre-AFL because you know the glory days are over...Port has sold its soul to become the Crows little brother..and the only thing you can come back with is the same old 5hit that Port fans have always come back with.'we've won more flags than you'. But newsflash geniear5e...this is a seperate comp and you are just embarrassing yourself by bringing up irrelevant successes of the past..it's like us Cat fans trying to claim all of those VFA premierships we won in the dark ages. Yes, those flags are excellent achievements but the only relevance they have in the national competition was for a selling point when it became time for the AFL to seek a new team that could actually win matches and get a few more bums on seats than Fitzroy did.

Now before you come back with the inevitable Geelong dig because you know I'm right, how about listing the 2004 premiership team, remove all of the non-Port players and replacing them with members of the stellar 2004 Port Magpies team? While you are at it you could try to explain to Crows supporters how by making the AFL that makes Port better than the Crows, especially if you are using the logic of SANFL success to do so.

Port Adelaide are an excellent football club with many fine achievements but the withdrawal of the premiership drug has made many patients dillusional.

Someone's got their knickers in a knot. What a huge rant and it makes no sense whatsoever. Do you have a point? you need to make it a bit clearer Im not so good at reading jibberish.

After last weeks narrow win against the Cows and the narrow loss to Geelong, both of which we woul've won by a lot if we could kick straight, I am most happy to see in these two weeks that it is patently obvious that the Cow fans revel in schadenfreude a hell of a lot more than Power fans.

Enjoy.

Yep we sure do revel in a lot more success and money than the powders.
And if we had kicked straight we would have won. How embarrassing it would have been for you if we had've won wiith a near full strength side compared to our barely half strength side. Would have almost been as funny as Chad "tosser" Cornes miss in front of goals.

im not impressed that we lost the game, but i hardly see it like its going to impact us heavily, its a bloody pre season much i mean you need to put it in perspective, i know u are trying to troll and fish but its making u look pretty foolish.

The lightning strikes must've neutralised your power. Bad luck guys. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of people. South Australians, it's time for you to go shark diving. You live in teh greatest place in the world to go shark diving and none of you have been. Get in - see the giants of the deep. Yes port, there are bigger monsters beneath the surface of the water than Mark Blake emerging from a mud puddle. For when you've failed to make the 8 this year, you'll need a hobby to flal back on. Perhaps shark diving is it?

Ohh ahh ouch that hurts wasn't Geelong in the top 4 odds too win the premiership early last year and didn't even make the 8 someone refresh my memory? I hear some of your supporters getting excited about the NAB Cup WOW its not a premiership what year was Geelongs last premiership have they won one in the AFL? Chad is certainly not overrated he makes the best players list almost every game.

Almost as embarassing as last years showdown for you guys. Port had a bunch of juniors and only 24 fit players to pick a team from yet we beat a full strength crows outfit. how embarrasment.

Talk about a joke. Look at yourself.

Tell me how many of Port Adelaide's 2004 team did not play for Port Adelaide???????

Just think about that question a second...

The answer is the same as this one... How many of Geelong's 1963 premiership team did not play for Geelong?

Which SANFL club is this?

Or are you claiming you support all of them now?????
well, crows formed as a representation of the SANFL in the AFL.

port adelaide formed as a representation of the magpies in the AFL.

there have been 134 non port premierships, since you arrived in the competition (we really should include yours too, but i know thatd be a very touchy subject with you bitter souls) and there have been 34 port adelaide maggies premierships.

Hmmmm. No.

Port moved from the SANFL to AFL. Same club different comp. How can a club which already existed be "formed"?

Crows were a brand new entity with some tenuous links to a bunch of SANFL clubs.

Well you are the all sorts no? ... what are you... Norwood? Sturt? Westies? Centrals?
What?

OK, well we are Port Adelaide, not a "mixed bunch".
Yet we have all the records bar 1 less premiership which happened as we joined close to a decade ago.

And "they" said we will be spooners from the get go... where are we? Not one spoon in over 100yrs.
Never underestimate the Mighty Power of the Mighty Port Footy Club.

Just a warning.

You are a "mixed bunch " as your team was started the same as the Crows with players coming from all SANFL clubs and still playing in other SANFL clubs when not required for the port power team .

It was definately not a full strength crows side with injuries to Roo,Burton and a few others as I remember. Wasnt that the game that Hentchel was injured as well.? But if you want to go down that track nothing was as embarassing as the thrashing we gave you in "the dream final",

He's overrated in the same sense that Joel Bowden is overrated. Can accumulate a lot of touches playing as a loose man in the back line... though so can Cameron Ling. Cornes can't actually 'defend'. Sure he has some talent, though he wouldn't be anywhere near the top 50 in the league.

Top post. :thumbsu:

Posessions don't mean as much as they used to. You can have 30 touches but do nothing for the game. 5 years ago, if you had 30 touches, more often than not you'd be BOG.

He was 8 in Sheahan's top 50 of 2006.

Mike's 2006 Top 50

1. B. HALL Sydney Swans (No.4 in 2005)
2. C. JUDD West Coast (No.2 in 2005)
3. M. PAVLICH Fremantle (40)
4. J. BROWN Brisbane Lions (10) 5. N. RIEWOLDT St Kilda (1)
6. W. TREDREA Port Adelaide (3)
7. B. COUSINS West Coast (18)
8. C. CORNES Port Adelaide (8)
9. D. COX West Coast (45)
10. M. SCARLETT Geelong (13)

I think most intelligent football watchers would have Cornes in the top 10, or at the very least, top 20.

To suggest he wouldn't be even in the top 50 just shows you are clueless.

As someone who watches top defenders like Tom Harley and Matthew Scarlett every week, I would have thought you would have learnt what class is all about.
Chad Cornes is top-shelf talent in this comp, add the midfield and forward capabilities of the guy and he is a genuine top-10 without a doubt.
