It is my understanding thet Geelong will be making a major play for Chad and are willing to pay 600k for him.
We won't be competing!

Damon White is the Power CHF that we should be going for. BUT will that disharten Watts?

We wouldn't have a problem finding spots for both White & Watts if they were both firing. As Stiffy mentioned, White is a ready-made player, where Watts is still a year or so away.

Yep we should definately have a crack at White and should also consider Ackland.

I am not sure why all the hype over Ottens. He is definately not living up to expectations and wouldn't not be worth a first round draft pick.

I only hope we look at recruiting a few guys who have abit of grunt and natural aggression to their game. Apart from Roo and Biglands, who else on the Crows list would intimidate?? All the top sides have at least 6 guys who are capable of intimidating the opposition. I like the look of Beau Waters from WC - very aggressive for a youngster. I would also look at Brian Harris from WB as he has abit of mongrel in him and he is an SA boy.

I think that you should revisit this idea in a couple of years when you have enough decent young players through drafting that you could trade one or two to get Cornes without having a heart attack in the process.

If you had to interest Port, I reckon you'd be looking at trading Watts & your first round pick, with probably a filler player from us as well (Schofield, Poulton)

I agree with this and only asked would he be disheartened. (I think he want's to be the star and not share the limelight, and thats a good thing)
Of course both of them are from Victoria, and might want to go home at some stage.

The weird bit is that Watts has played more games at AFL level.

I know as a fact that he is on our "GET" list
Can't see why he would be a priority when we have Rutten, Parker & Smith in the wings.

More important that we find a quality ruckman & some young midfielders IMO.

I think its no secret that I am his biggest fan on these boards and have been saying for yonks now that we should go for him.

However, if Rutten continues developing at the rate that he is I don't know if we really need Harris.

Despite, Harris signed a contract at the end of last year and is still contracted so I doubt WB would entertain the idea of letting him go.

Parker is big enough to have a real crack at Rucking and is mobile enoudh to be good around the ground.
I think Rutten has been exeptional as a full back in learning but I also think he (if he can add some pace) could make a go of CHB, more than a one position player in any case.
Smith will be a depth player IMO.
Harris is most definatly on our want/get/wish list, and I would play him on the flank opposite Reily. Correct me if i'm wrong stiffy but i thought he was reasonbly quick.

Harris on a flank?

If we were to get him he'd be given a permanent key defensive role - don't get sucked into the traditional "back six" formation mentality ;)

Harris is a key defensive player, but even if he were a HBF, we have too many of them too - Reilly, Begley, Doughty, Torney, Massie, etc. Given what we would have to give up for Harris, I believe we have more pressing priorities.

He's a good young fullback, bags of promise ;)

Crickey you really know how to dream:p

Parker is 193 cm and not much of a leap on him. There is no way in hell he will ruck at AFL level. He was thrown into the ruck with SOuth at times and struggled against lesser opposition.

Harris as a flanker has no appeal. He is a FB and thats it with possibly being a pinch hit forward but not a pemanent one.

We have far more pressing issues that going after a FB especially considering the emergence of Rutten and Parker and Smith waiting in the wings.

That's fine with me. I'll take Thurstans in our system versus the vast majority of KPPs ever so clearly leading you to the promised land...

don't forget to send us a postcard if you ever get to the promised land... we'll compare notes ;)

He rucked the last time i saw the bays (vs norwood at the bay) and did OK plenty of run, I'm surprised that he is 193cm , he looks taller.

While i agree with you that we have more urgent needs I can promise you that Harris is in our sights.

But I am starting to wonder why???

Well you'd have to. I for one wouldnt accept anything less than your first pick + a player.

24, rarely injured, one of the very best contested marks in the league (top 3 easily), a match winning forward or a match winning attacking CHB. They dont grow on trees. You'd be paying thru the nose to get him.

He has never been a matchwinning forward. As a forward he averages less than two goals a game and was liable to go missing. He would always rack up marks but usually on the wing heading up to half-forward. He rarely appealed as a power forward.

He is not a match winning CHB yet because he is too susceptible to a clever player at CHF taking advantage of his zoning off and killing him on the rebound.

Sure, he is a very good player, but he is not a great back or a great forward just yet.
