Never understood why he just does not play perma small fwd... he avg almost 3 goals a game when during his AA years. Feels like he gets lost between mid and fwd
Correct. Can never settle as he's good in both roles. And coaches need to move him around depending on the flow of the game. He'd be better suited in our 3 peat team. With Bud, Rough, Cyril, Gunner, Breust and Shaun. Can you imagine??

You do realize how rich this is coming from a Crows supporter yeah?
Well it seems the Crows supporter knows more people at your club than you do.
Chad is a flag, and was the most unpopular club in your playing group.
FIGJAM is a decent word for him.
Doesn't even watch AFL, and thinks he should have perused an NBL career.
There's a reason your club couldn't get him out of place quick enough, and another reason Hawthorn have buyers regret.
But yeah, we should look at him.

Well liked at the Hawks and been embraced by all at the club.

Great family man and have not heard a single complaint or negative thing about his attitude or personality since coming to the Hawks.

Chad, like many extremely talented players thinks/acts on another level. Like Cyril before him, so much of his brilliance is individual brilliance. It's the coaches job to find how that best fits into the team.

Chad has basically played three roles for Hawthorn - as a ball-winning onballer, a high-hf linkman, and a genuine forward pocket.

As a forward pocket, you rely on consistent performance from your key forwards - Patton (Injured), Lewis (Heart), and O'Brien (Hands) struggle to get to the contest, let alone bring it to ground consistently. Even Breust, one of the best small forwards of our generation struggled for consistent output this year.

As a forward flanker, you rely on fast transition play - Scully, Morrison, etc - don't give you much hope of quick, accurate delivery - our rebound coming from Frost, Frawley, McEvoy, Stratton and Hardwick is virtually non-existent, whilst all of Mitchell/Worpel/O'Meara/Shiels are the "dump it on the boot" clearance player. Even Sicily (an intercept/rebound specialist) is more a long-kick to the wing/contest than creative disposal to open up the play.

Which is why Chad saw most of his personal success playing on-ball - winning his own ball and getting out of the contest. Even then, he would often use his agility/acceleration to find a modicum of space - only to find his team-mates where either on the ground (Mitchell), in the pack, or otherwise unable to provide a handball receive option. So he looks up only to see Patton/Lewis aimlessly wandering around 70m away, or O'Brien (who drops five for every one that he takes).

He has worked incredibly hard this year - criticism of his efforts are completely misplaced. He is learning how to fit into his team (and his team-mates to what he can do) which is frustrating, but he has speed and agility, is a surprisingly good tackler and works at least as hard as his on-ball mates.

The only player on that list of players I'd have ahead of Chad is Doedee. Talent wise it's undeniable that Wingard would be better than anyone at Adelaide (and a number of other clubs). He absolutely does need a serious spray or two if he's ever going to match his talent though.
Settle down.

Wingard is barely top five at a side worse than the Crows.

The guy is a toxic influence at clubs by all reports. He doesn't have any real value. You should be ECSTATIC with what you got for him.

Yeah I can imagine. Salary cap penalties

So you don't want to talk about Clarkson putting it on him in no uncertain terms then?
Or didn't you know about that.
And he was hated by the playing group at Port. Thats the reason he was traded out.
Oh, and family man? Who is his wife and kids?

Was provided by data, not there thoughts or opinion, had Breust at 3 aswell, and they actually said Breust should be all Australian.

You do understand that the data is based on subjective judgements right? Fantastic that Hawthorn have the number 1 small forward, the number 3 KPF and the number 3 small forward, but those ratings are clearly not worth much

Just the slight problem that we can't get the ball down there to use them which also means that are pushing further up the ground to get more of it which may improve their rankings
