Group A: Real Madrid, Roma, Lokomotiv Moscow, Anderlecht Real Madrid and Roma would be favourites to go through, but the away trip to Lokomotive Moscow could trip a couple of teams up (although I can't see Lokomotiv winning too many points away from home)

Group B: Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Dynamo Kiev, Boavista A very tricky group to pick. I'd expect Liverpool to go through as last season, they performed very well in their away matches. The other team to go through would be a toss up between Dortmund and Kiev, and Kiev will be another one of those tricky away matches.

Group C: Arsenal, Real Mallorca, Schlake, Panathinaikos This will be another closely fought group. Panathinaikos's home crowd could have an intimidation factor that could see them win all three home games and effectively get them through. As for the other 3 teams....well, if I had to pick, perhaps Real Mallorca will get through.

Group D: Lazio, Galatasaray, PSV Eindhoven, Nantes Lazio and Galatasaray to go through for my money.

Group E: Juventus, Porto, Rosenborg, Celtic Juventus to win the group. I'd like to see Celtic get through, but Rosenborg have had a history of getting past their biggger European rivals....hmmm.....Celtic.

Group F: Barcelona, Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen, Fenerbahce Barcelona to win and either Lyon or Bayer Leverkusen to go through with them.

Group G: Manchester United, Deportivo La Coruna, Olympiakos, Lille Manchester United and Deportivo to get through, but Olympiakos will run a very close third.

Group H: Bayern Munich, Spartak Moscow, Feyenoord Rotterdam, Sparta Prague Bayern Munich will win the group and second place will come from either Spartak or Feyenoord.

I agree with most of your selections Shinboner, but if last years form is any guide, don't discount Anderlecht in Group A. Their record at home last year was excellent at almost got them to the quarters. The Group looks at little too strong for them this year, but they were supposed to be the easybeats last year.
Galatasaray will struggle this year, while Fenebache may suprise a couple of teams. Juve may also struggle but should still get through. Their Group is no where near as hard as last year.

May the fun begin, and may the Spanish "Giants" Deportivo La Coruna come out on top. I love that name, it has to be one of the sweetest sound football names, it just rolls off the tongue. No wonder Les Murray always repeats the name whenever he gets the opportunity.

My tips:

Group A: Real Madrid and Roma should have too much firepower. Anderlecht are a rough chance but it would be a MAJOR upset if Roma and Real missed out.

Group B: Liverpool should get through comfortably. My tip for second spot would be Dortmund, although Dynamo Kiev can be a very tricky away fixture.

Group C: I think Panathinaikos will get through. There brilliant at home and that should see them through. Arsenal might sneak the second place.

Group D: Lazio and Galatasaray easily.

Group E: Juve are my tip for the whole competition so i think they'll get through easily. I'd like to see Celtic through...

Group F: Barca (with little confidence) and Leverkusen.

Group G: Man U and Deportivo, as Shinners said, Olympiakos a very close third.

Group H: Bayern and Spartak Moscow.

Should be a great competition again. :)

Mmm...not a great draw for Liverpool, but we have to play quality opposition at some stage. The trip to Kiev will be a shocker, but I think we should be good enough to make it through.

Celtic are a chance I reckon, Porto & Rosenborg are not superpowers - it will be a good battle for 2nd in that group.

Arsenal seem to have drawn a fairly easy group, and ManUre will cruise through in 2nd spot - what a bugger.

Don't discount PSV in group D-they've got this top notch midfielder called Van Bommel watch out for him I don't know how the big clubs missed out on him.

BTW don't overestimate Panathinaikos I'm more worried about Real Mallorca (although it's a great place to go for the away leg:D )

QT'S EXPERT PREDICTIONS

Group A: Real Madrid, Roma, Lokomotiv Moscow, Anderlecht
Real Madrid and Roma should get through. Anderlecht will struggly without 'Radzinski" and Koller. But dont rule out Lokomotiv, I dont think any team fancies playing in Russia

Group B: Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Dynamo Kiev, Boavista
Liverpool and Dortmund to get through. Dinamo will struggle again this yr, Boavista prob will just make up the numbers.

Group C: Arsenal, Real Mallorca, Schalke, Panathinaikos
Arsenal and Panathinaikos ( I wish). But I think Mallorca are a super team and will not just get past the first group strage. Shalke are a tough German side, so really this group is the hardest to pick

Group D: Lazio, Galatasaray, PSV Eindhoven, Nantes
Lazio and Galatasaray should take this easy, but PSV and Nantes are both quality

Group E: Juventus, Porto, Rosenborg, Celtic
Juventus and Celtic, finally a scottish team will do something in Europe. If Celtic can knock off Ajax 3-1 in Amsterdam they shouldnt have too many worries about Rosenborg and Porto, but Rosenborg, well we all know what they have done to the big guns in the 90's.

Group F: Barcelona, Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen, Fenerbahce
Barca and Leverkusen to go through. Lyon are a good side but I think Bayer may just edge them out. Fenerbahce well, they knocked off Rangers so who knows!

Group G: Manchester United, Deportivo La Coruna, Olympiakos, Lille
Man Utd and Deportive, but dont rule out Olympiakos, they have made some gun signings, and Lille, well watch out for Mile Sterjovski ;)

Group H: Bayern Munich, Spartak Moscow, Feyenoord Rotterdam, Sparta Prague
Bayen and Fayenoord. But Spartak are a good side and Sparta Prague may cause a few upsets at home

Hey! Don't insult the Autoglass trophy, it's a great comp and the only trophy Carlisle has won in it's 100 years.

I'm a bit surprised that you guys are all nominating Panathinaikos to go through. I think that the Greek league is damn ordinary, and despite the amazing atmosphere at their home games, they don't do well in Europe on the whole.

I reckon that they are clearly the worst side in that group:

Group C:
Arsenal
Mallorca
Schalke
Panathinaikos

My predictions for other groups:

A:
Roma
Real Madrid
Anderlecht
Lokomotiv Moscow

B:
Liverpool
Dortmund
Dynamo Kiev
Boavista

D:
Galatasaray
Lazio
PSV Eindhoven
Nantes

E:
Juventus (no sure thing though)
Celtic
Rosenborg
Porto

F:
Barcelona
Lyon
Bayer Leverkusen
Fernebache

G:
Deportivo La Coruna
Man Utd
Olympiakos
Lille

H:
Bayern Munich
Spartak Moscow
Sparta Prague
Feyenoord

In 99 I think Olympiakos made it to the quarter finals, and lost to Juventus with a 91st min goal to Conte :(

Panathinaikos made it to the second group stage last season, and made it to the semi finals in 95/96.

Your right about the greek league not being to crash hot, but there are certainly many good teams in it.

Paok, Aek, Olympiakos, Panathinaikos are all good teams and will do well in Europe.

And watch out for Kostandinidis from Panathinaikos, he is very Viduka like. He cost a greek record fee of somethin over 10 million pounds I think.

Olympiakos have signed Karambeu, Boca Juniours captain, Leonardo (I think) and a few more. They could be a surprise this year

Group C:
- I tipped Pana and Arsenal, both qualified.

Group D:
- I tipped Lazio and Gala, Gala and Nantes qualified.

Group E:

Yeah, that's true. You'd expect most of the giants to get through, and with the next round, you'd expect the likes of Sparta Prague and Boavista to get knocked out. I think for TV purposes, the UEFA would love to have Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and two others apart from Sparta Prague and Boavista to get through the next stage.

The two biggest surprises was that Lazio didn't make it, but Boavista did.

My grandma is Portugese, so I look at the Portugese league pretty closely, and I follow Porto.

I would have picked Porto to go through ahead of Celtic, and I know not many folk rate Boavista, but they can play!

Not the minnows you would think, and could surprise a few people...
