That update was worth waiting for, they said it is still raining, the next update is in an hour when it will probably still be raining.

There seems to be an opening for a decent South African side to amusingly miss out in an ICC tournament again.

They got screwed by DRS when there was a rain delay in Sydney in the semi final against England in the 1992 World Cup.

Originally the DRS equation was 22 runs off 7 balls which gave South Africa a chance and then it got changed to 1 ball.

I remember the crowd at the SCG booing when that happened apart from the England supporters who were all cheering.

I almost died laughing when I saw that.

From Cricbuzz:

15:45 Local Time, 10:45 GMT, 16:15 IST: We're hearing that the cut-off time for a 20-over contest is 7:32 pm local. We're already losing overs and this rain hasn't abated one bi

A 20 over contest you sense (or a shorter game) would favour South Africa with their power hitters eg Stubbs, David Millers, Klaasen (if fit), Ryan Rickeltons and even someone like big Marco Jansen can give it a whack.

Do understand that bar Maxwell, Australia have more of a team suited to a longer or proper 50 over contest.

No it wouldn't.... history shows that..

And it will rain out anyway

Klassen isn’t fit. Back likely next game at worst the potential semi. We literally have Head, Short (more a t20), Inglis (gun in t20), Maxwell. Bowling attack is more a t20 one too

Im not sure about that. Im pretty convinced from what I saw in the SA20, they have an abundance of power hitters. I dont think the rules in a shortened game would be too different to an actual proper T20 contest either.

Guys like Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are not T20 players. Dont look at the BBL its a mimic league that played these twos, your Khawajas (from tests) in the past . Its a big jump from the BBL to the international arena. (or vice versa)

Carey is pretty decent in the short form too

Yep left him out as he’s not in our top t20 side but you are correct. The bowlers are all better at t20 probably bar Zampa. Dwarshius, Ellis, Johnson are

We have way more specialists and we wouldn’t play Lab if it were a 30 over or less game you’d likely play a Hardie type

So the SA20 is a top league but the BBL isn't.

Right.

Right.
According to rankings Ive read, the rankings of global T20 leagues, the IPL is the superior product, and alot have the SA20 as a clear number 2 in terms of actual game play, and with slightly better money compared to the BBL and hence better attraction of import players.

They were able to attract Aussies like: Stoinis, Mitch Owen, Behrendorff, Ashton Turner, Tom Rogers even in the recent campaign.........(outside the current non-contracted Australian players) just recently.

Still raining there apparently and it doesn't look like getting any better, Rawalpindi looking like the Pakistan version of Sydney.

A real shame that one of the best games of the group stages looks like being a washout without a ball being bowled.
