If anyone is dropping out of that top 7 for Carey it is Hardie.I would drop labs and play Carey
It would have also been the perfect opportunity for Jhye Richardson to return to International cricket but alas he's injured again.Bowling looks very average without any of the big three. Is Lance Morris injured or just not in consideration. Would have thought he offered a point of difference with his express pace.
I don't see why the selectors rate Hardie. Inconsistent performer. If anyone is dropping out of that top 7 for Carey it is Hardie.
I find it staggering that Hardie is there and Beau Webster isn't.Australia Champions Trophy squad (updated): Steve Smith (c), Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matthew Short, Adam Zampa. Travelling reserve: Cooper Connolly.
Pleased to see specialist T20 white ballers, Johnson, Ellis chosen.
Bats: Smith, Head, Inglis, Labuchagne, Carey (w/k)
All Rounders: Hardie, Maxwell, Short.
Bowlers: Johnson, Ellis, Zampa.
Reserves: Abbott, Dwarhuis, Sangha, Fraser-McGurk,
Bizarre not to have him in.Would have preferred to have seen Xavier Bartlett in the squad, think he needs to be in the Australian team as much as possible.
Not staggering for me, a touch baffling it being white ball and Webster has played all season while Hardie has had a stop/start one. In skill terms I'd take Hardie over Webster in both formats.I find it staggering that Hardie is there and Beau Webster isn't.
Over Abbott too. Both bat about the same, but Bartlett clearly the better bowler in all formats.Would probably have picked Bartlett over Dwarshuis but oh well
And I feel they only drop him if Abbott and Dwarshius are picked at 7/8.If anyone is dropping out of that top 7 for Carey it is Hardie.
Hardie has hardly scored a run all year. Not staggering for me, a touch baffling it being white ball and Webster has played all season while Hardie has had a stop/start one. In skill terms I'd take Hardie over Webster in both formats.
Naturally when you play only 1 of 7 shield rounds. Expect he only played a couple of one dayers too. Didn't he play in that Pom one day series? If so, then he is the incumbent, thus his selection. If not, then baffled as I said. I'd have Webster ahead of Abbott and Dwarhuis.Hardie has hardly scored a run all year.
You've conveniently forgotten his 7 BBL games I see.Naturally when you play only 1 of 7 shield rounds. Expect he only played a couple of one dayers too. Didn't he play in that Pom one day series? If so, then he is the incumbent, thus his selection. If not, then baffled as I said.
Red ball form. I'd definitely have Webster ahead of Abbott and Dwarhuis. How Webster is not even in the squad doesn't make sense.
He's pretty much in the form of his life.
Not conveniently. Missed them. Did catch some replay footage of most interesting games tho. You've conveniently forgotten his 7 BBL games I see.
