Here and There
Similar to the thread on pot odds, how do u know what % your hand is of winning? Is there a method that any of you use? I'm interested to know. Any advice on how to do it would be appreciated. Cheers

Without any incling on what the other players have, it is impossible to determine a %.

However with the right read on a player i guess you can rule out them holding certain hands...One thing you can be certain of is where your starting hand ranks out of all the possible starting hands (about 160)

If you're wanting to calculate percentages post-flop, here's how you do it:

First, calculate the number of outs you have, I.e. the number of cards you can hit to win the hand. Then, divide by the number of cards left in the deck, and times by 100.

When calculating how many cards left in the deck, you only use the cards you've SEEN. That is, you don't count anybody elses cards, but just your hole cards, and the community cards on the table. So, if you were calculating a hand on the flop, you would count the two cards in your hand, and the three on the table. There are 52 cards in a deck, so 52 - 5 = 47. If you have, say 9 outs to win the pot, it would be 9/47 = 0.19148 times 100 = 19%. Thus, you have a 19% chance of hitting your hand. On the turn, you would divide by 46, and on the river 45.

Of course, some people find it too hard to calculate odds, so it's best to remember how many outs you should consider calling with, and also take into consideration pot odds. For example, if you're getting good pot odds on the turn with 20-23 outs, you probably should consider calling, as you have a near 50/50 chance in hitting your hand.
