SS isnt going to like it but Ablett will probably replace mathews.

An outside chance Brennan may get a shot to show his wares up forward with Playfair getting more fitness time iin the two's.

mathews is out
playfair should play
can't see brennan playing ahead of malch if malch is fit
in fact, i'd have brennan 4th of the four new names

Sorry Rancid. Got confused by Dunkly's post, it had no out's but I now see no matthews in the line up. I dont disagree about Playfair. I just think it may happen. Brennan will get at least one more chance to show his value.

Wow, Bevan starting up forward.

I'm very amazed and slightly shocked that Malceski is on the extended bench. That's great news... I think?

Im kind of hoping its Jarrad McVeigh as he has been a gun this year and we can usually count on him to score atleast 1 or 2 goals a game.

It would be great to see him kick 7 in one game :D
Mchack could have kicked 3 in a Q last week but missed a set shot from 20m out

I'd be disapointed if Knights let those matchups eventuate. Ryder murdered O'Loughlin last year and should get the job again unless we play him on Goodes. Slattery going to Goodes would be suicide, Goodes is just way too big and talented for him. Failing Ryder playing on him i'd imagine we need someone with the size and speed to run with him. Continueing on the number 23 at Essendon haunting him i'd put Myers on him. Whilst i think Fletch will get O'keefe and Michael to LRT. Johns doesnt really have a matchup down back and is not needed up forward so may not play, may get Playfair. Other than that agree on most matchups.

I am a massive fan of Ryder's. Just wondering, do you think he has the pace and fitness to run with Goodes?

Pace certainly... and fitness i would think so. He has played on the likes of Riewoldt and other key forwards who just run and run and run and have massive tanks.. I still think O'Loughlin is the more dangerous player though.

I don't think Ryder has the fitness to go with Goodes at this stage. Ryder is good at CHB because he reads the play well and has to cover a zone, his advantages of speed and leap come into play. He doesn't have to run constant then, more watch leads and the ball and judge where to go.

Chasing the ball around the ground, constantly running and chasing the play, isn't something that he's used to as yet, and his fitness probably isn't quite on the level of someone like Goodes.

Slattery is too small and not skilled enough to go with Goodes though, I think Myers might get a run. His fitness isn't super hot right now so he wont be able to cover him all day, so Ryder or maybe even Daniher will get a go at some point too I expect.

If we can shut Goodes down I think we'll go along way to winning the game, however we really don't have a great matchup for him so he could really hurt us.

C.Bolton v Lloyd Even if Lloyd plays out of the goal square?
Barry v Johns I think Johns will miss. Barry will probably take the resting ruckman or Neagle.
Richards v Neagle Most likely, I suppose. Neagle will be an interesting one for him though, might be too big. Laycock would be a better backup for you guys with him.
Bevan v Lovett Sounds good to me!
Kennelly v Jetta Hmm, unlikely I think. Houli might get a go, or Dyson (tagging).

Kirk v Watson Watson might miss.
Jack v Stanton If Jack does go to him it'll be a good contest.
McVeigh v McVeigh :D (more likely Ablett)
Goodes v Slattery Hislop, Myers or Ryder probably.
Buchanan v Houli

O'Loughlin v Michael Probably quite likely, actually. Especially if Ryder follows Goodes.
Playfair v Fletcher Fletch will have a field day.
O'Keefe v Welsh I think Slattery might get a go.
LRT v Ryder Possibly Daniher.

Jolly/Everitt v Hille/Laycock
Essendon players in a tagging role are likely to be Slattery and Dyson. Daniher and Welsh will play on the halfback/forward lines with Lloyd, Neagle, Fletch and Mal the only others who will play in key positions.

Everyone else I think will depends on matchups and how things are going and will be a lot more flexible.

Shoulda been Bird. At least Barlow can offer something up forward. Oh well. Eski to the forward line then :D
I don't quite understand it either to be honest. I can only think that Malceski will be spending a lot of the game up forward, which given our current forward woes, might not be a bad thing.

Great to have Mal back, but dropping Barlow i cannot understand.
He is one who does kick straight, maybe he could play up forward and replace Playfair or Mcveigh who could be suspect in the forecast wet conditions !

More dangerous than Goodes? Joke, but I see what you mean some average/mercurial players we just dont have match ups for e.g. Motlop. TBH If Ryder plays in the backline I'd like to see him on O'Keefe but would prefer him in the ruck.

I reckon it'll be LRT if he's having a bit of a hard time in the backline. Or maybe Bevo, he seems to go pretty well in the forward line.
