Changes against Essendon

Barlow's not really been playing in the forward line, more on a wing. He could be used as a forward but that's not how the coaches seem to have used him thus far. My guess is that they'll move Kennelly, Malceski and Mattner will all spend time playing further up the ground than the HBF, effectively displacing Barlow from the role he's been playing.

Yeah, he is a little unlucky but if you've watched the last couple of games closely you'll see that he has drifted in and out of the game (usually kicking a goal or two i might add!) and that's about it. His stats (aside from the goals) would be very similar to Davis'. Good call to give him a run in the 2's for a week or two and build the confidence...

Well said.

I was expecting Bird to get a break but they've gone with Barlow and Mick brings up some good points. Barlow's impact on games has been average. Though he did hit mick on the chest twice in the last term against the dogs.

I'ts possible the coaches want him to find plenty of the ball across the whole match and perhaps want him to run hard in a couple of seconds game's to lift his fitness to make him a consistent performer across the whole match. I have no doubt Barlow will soon be back.

Its a worry when O'Keefe is our great hope to kick a bag load of goals. O'Keefe is a great player but he isnt the type of player who kicks alot of goals in 1 match. The most goals O'Keefe has EVER kicked in one game is 5 against Geelong back in 2004 and the most goals he kicked in one game in 2007 was 3 against Hawthorn on round 22. To sum up, O'Keefe is not and will never be a prolific goal scorer.

I agree with you there - was more pointing out the 5.14 stat for shock value.
Moore, Playfair, O'Keefe, Goodes and Micky O could all kick multiples but we need Jack, J Bolton, Buchanon, Kirk, Malceski (if on a wing) to chip in with one each as well.

I agree. The midfield really need to step up to cover for the fact that our Forward line is rather weak.

Obviously i havent checked the figures but i would imagine that the Swans midfield would have the highest percentage the teams total score of any team in the AFL. Our midfield seems to score nearly 70% of the points scored by the entire Swans team. Imagine how good the Swans would be this year if we had a Forward option like Fevola, Brown or Franklin, i think the Swans would be in the top 4 easily.

And isn't that a change from the past. We're used to our midfield kicking very little goals.

Hopefully we can get our forward line functioning again, and this will be beneficial to us later in the season.
