changes against melbourne

In: Fletcher, Winderlich, Welsh
Out: Zaharakis, Monfries, Lonergan, possibly Davey.

Woosha will probably only play half a game, but he needs more game time to get match fitness up and since Bendigo don't play until the 28th this is the only (and probably the best) way for him to get it. Zaha would probably do well to have another weeks rest. Monfries and Davey would have to be under the gun for a lackluster performance as a whole over the year, a drop into the 2's could do them a world of good.

How can Welsh play agianst carlton on the 26th when bendigo's next game is on the 28th.

My point is more about bringing Welshy who has played no footy into our team that is low on team match fitness.

Consider a theoretical construct of - "team senior match fitness" - it refers to the overall fitness of the team as measured by senior games played in the current season.

The cats & saints would have a team match fitness close to 10.
With the handful of recent inclusions, our team match fitness is low perhaps around 6.8. No doubt this issue is heavy in the selectors minds.

Against the Crows who had a higher team match fitness - this hurt us.

After this week our "team senior match fitness" levels would have increased to such an extent that Welshy will slip right in - I hope !!!

I agree with Womb - Hooker is needed to help a rucking Ryder. Fletch leg wouldnt like it too much & Lucas cant do it.

Our ruck concerns really hurt us last week - I hope the selection panel are aware of this & the fitness issues and really err on the side of caution.

In's: Fletch / Windas
Outs: Skippy / Zaha

I'd be quite happy to rest Hooker and Zaharakis, and one other and bring in Fletcher, Welsh and Winderlich.
Get them right for the 2 bigger games. I'm confident we can win this game, if we rotate our bench efficiently, we should be O.K.
I really want them ready for the following 2 weeks, I don't want to lose those games.

I don't expect to see Slattery get up.

Zaha, McPhee, Houli to miss.

Fletch, Winders, Welsh to play.

Hooker will support in the ruck.

When are you going to bring these guys in though? Considering Melbourne are the bottom side and Bendigo don't have a game this week, Welsh playing was pretty important given that we've got a gruelling 2nd half of the year ahead.

i just came from training and the changes from last games 22 to this weeks 25 man squad are:

out: houli (virus) - he's been crook all week.

in: fletcher, welsh, winderlich, t.slattery

my guess would be that t.slattery, zaharakis, and one of lonergan/hocking/skipworth/reimers would be the 3rd emergency.

If Bendigo was playing this week would Welsh play for Essendon? I would say no, which is my head leans to letting him have another week off. The way Knights is talking, he will be playing.

Yeah you guys are probably right. Welshy will probably play. I hope he provides as much as the guy who is ommited. I suspect the game will be a little closer now, but with our best team on the park for a long while we should still win.

As i have lead the concern for his exclusion this week on the basis of fitness, I hope I am absolutely wrongand Welsh plays a massive game & rips it up & the dons kick some Demon a** !

Thanks efcboy much appreciated :thumbsu:

Massive shame about Bachar. He needed that virus last week! Let's hope it's not swine flu!

We will be tested with our lack of small defenders this week. McVeigh may have to stay down there like he did against Adelaide. If that is the case it may save Lonergan's spot for another week as Welsh will only play 60-70% TOG.

I'm still not sure who the final unlucky out will be? I will in 5 hours time :)
