Possible INs: Daniher, Myers, T. Slattery, Jetta

Hurley, Winderlich, Slattery, Fletcher, Welsh - Any injury updates on these guys? Any chance to play Melbourne in 2 weeks?

Possible OUTs: Neagle(omitted), Zaharakis(rest)

Might want to wait till after the VFL match.
I'm tempted to lock this (and any additional) thread(s) until after our VFL game. However people seem to love venting their emotional conclusions straight after games.

Re: Changes vs Melbourne (Split Round, Long Discussion)

Winderlich'll be back after the break (Boy did we need him to play.)
Hurley = I doubt it. They won't rush him.
Slattery, Fletcher = Possible
Welsh = They'll probably be patient with Welsh.

Re: Changes vs Melbourne (Split Round, Long Discussion)

neagle definitely out. jetta in. that will do for now

Houli = OUT, no matter how anyone goes in the VFL or injuries.

He really needs to work on his skills, always thumbling, piss weak floaty handballs. Seems every time he goes near it something bad happens. At the moment he's a liability in my opinion, it's bloody frustrating because I can see him being a really good player..

I had a fairly lengthy post typed out and my internet decided to crash, and I'm really not in the mood to type it out again.

In summary,

OUT: Jay Neagle, Kyle Reimers, David Zaharakis, Sam Lonergan
IN: Dustin Fletcher, Leroy Jetta, Jason Winderlich, Henry Slattery.

I made a 22 from scratch, rather than coming up with those four names, and they were the unluck four. My rationale is:

  • Three tall forwards just doesn't work, and Scotty well and truly earnt his spot
  • We lacked a lot of forward pressure
  • Winders and Slats are essential to our structure
  • McVeigh goes back into the midfield, meaning Reimers gets squeezed out
  • Fletch to ruck, because Scotty and Hooker just weren't enough.
  • Zaka needs a break

game is two weeks away and VFL players yet to play so probably too early to tell.
but my guess would be that Skipworth, Neagle (looked lazy today), Hooker, Zaha and Hocking could get dropped.
Even Reimers who didn't look match fit, made poor decisions, also mind set looked wrong where a couple time the ball wasn't kicked to him so he had a sook and just stood there. probably shouldn't have played today.
stanton really needs to work on the defensive side of his game, even though it sounds like people have been saying that for a while. still needs some work.

in: fletcher, winderlich

out: zaharakis, hocking.

given we're playing melbourne i don't see the need to play all of lonergan, hocking, skipworth. given hocking was the worst performed of the trio he is the unlucky one. with our fast attacking game plan going forward i don't think we can afford to have all 3 of these guys in the one side - probably same goes for playing both lucas and neagle. however neagle will get another opportunity and it will be much easier against a young dee defender.

One bad DT/SC shouldn't account for his form.

He's played better than Lonergan imo.

Re: Changes vs Melbourne (Split Round, Long Discussion)

Who ever goes in must be a back men. So we can release Hooker in for the back-up ruck men spot.

Re: Changes vs Melbourne (Split Round, Long Discussion)

Some people on this board have little knowledge on football. Dropping Lonergan is just stupid. He's not a high stat getting player and thats not what he's in the team to do.

Ins : Fletcher, Winderlich, Slatts, Jetta
Outs: Monfries, Skipworth, Zaharakis, Neagle

I'd love to keep on playing Neagle instead of Scotty but you can't drop Lucas after that game.

Reimers and Prismall to get much needed fitness against a poor Melbourne and stay in.

Dyson and Houli need to watch their back as players are going to take their spots.

Alwyn Davey must be mighty close to the chop. Our most overated player.

He has 52 tackles to date... If you want the ball to waltz out of our forward line even easier than it did yesterday than dropping Davey would be a good idea.

In: Jetta, Daniher
Out: Neagle (liability until he increases his fitness), Zaharakis (rest)

Daniher to defence, Hooker to ruck, Lucas to fwd line.

Granted he can tackle a bit, but he needs a few more strings to his bow than just that. He fumbles, his skills are low, he doesn't kick goals (although he did get 3 cheap ones against Richmond after they'd given up after half time) and is a bit scared when his head is over the ball. Jetta and Monfries have their faults, but both are a mile ahead of Davey at the moment.
