We need to take history as our guide and not play T Berry in anything other than a M/F role.

Who knows what he's got under the bonnet with some Senior games.

It's not just our club but all clubs to some extent pigeon hole players who are struggling for Senior selection and try to groom them for what they see as any sort of deficiency in the Senior team . Instead of making them better players at what they're actually good at.
I think you have mentioned a bloke currently running around in the midfield for the crows and going OK

This may not come out right but when I was watching the Swans game on the weekend and other games there've played this year was how physically developed a lot of there players are say compared to the likes of TBerry, Sharp, Kai who i appreciate is not a great example as he is so young and other 1-4 year players on our list. A lot of the Swans players look like they have good solid rigs compared to our young-uns. I really hope we can win b/c it would be great to get a win at the SCG after so long but I just dont see it.

Out of cuirosity, is Lewis Taylor still @ the Swans?

Did a bit of digging on Lyons after reading (and feeling) the disappointment in his performances so far.

However he is currently top 11 for clearances in the AFL and our second highest disposal getter after Neale. It does look like he is mainly resting on the bench rather then being forward, out of the smalls, all of Neale, Bailey, Berry, McLuggage having higher TOG. He is only 5mins ahead of Rayner, Ah Chee, Robbo.

Our TOG stats show we heavily rotate our bottom 8 or so players, with all our talls very rarely coming from the ground. Andrews currently is no1 in the AFL for TOG and Adams is no3.

I'm firmly in the court of raising the draft age. There are very few 18 yo players that have the muscle maturity to protect them from injury, even though (again - a few) can come in as solid performers.

Even if the age went to 20 I reckon there would be fewer injuries in under 20s, get in the under 22s and I suspect, fewer mental health problems. An extra two years before the step up to the professional load is a lot of physical development time.

Saying kids can delay if they aren't ready doesn't solve the issue - 17 yo just don't have the maturity to choose to delay, and even if they did they would be rightfully fearful that they would lose whatever opportunity they might have.

Yes, Lewy is still with the swans. He has been going alright in the 2's as well with a couple of BOG performances but appears well and truly on the outer at the swans. If he doesn't get a run in the firsts this year he'll be gone at the end of the season I suspect.

A fair bit of this simply comes down to the build of a lot of the kids they have drafted recently.

Campbell and Gulden were chunky little mids as juniors. They’ve also drafted quite a few inside mids from SA and WA who were well built as juniors.

Where as we have drafted lighter bodied flankers, or kids who haven’t been part of the elite pathways, and don’t have the same body shape as the kids the Swans have drafted.

It will be an interesting contest.

On paper, Brisbane have a better contested onball brigade than us. However, Swans look to have Bris beat on the outside run and carry.

If Bris get first possession and are accurate in I50s then it will be hard yakka.

If swans break close to even and bris disposal efficiency going i50 is rubbish, likely to burn you on the outside.

Seems like a lot of "no shit" statements but does look like the way it will play out

Huge test. Rate Sydney highly and this will be a tough ask. I have them ahead of us atm but we are building. I think Robinson will come in for Lohmann but would like to see T. Berry come in and play an accountable role on Blakey off half back. He had been getting them going in the back half. And I hope we put some sort of time into Callum Mills. He destroyed us last time and I can't fathom how AFL wide coaches continue to let the oppositions most influential players roam free around the ground. I understand the concept of team defence but if an opposing player is getting the ball 30 plus times that's 30 plus times he's robbing Neale and Co. a chance to get us going from the middle. Jarrod Berry would be a good match up for Mills. Heeney is their best player. Starc gets that one.

Agree, IMO the Swans are a top 4 side this season + I also find it difficult to dislike them, in fact I admire how they have been able to consistently make finals over a long period of time and their ability to "rebuild" quickly when needed, my early top 4 prediction is Demons, Lions, Cats and Swans.

They're also really good at finding space on the SCG , a ground where we historically have struggled to do likewise.

The other teams haven't put the time into some of these emerging stars from the Swans because they haven't been doing it for long enough to have anyone think it's really happening . Looks like last year wasn't a flash in the pan.

We're a strong enough team to put a couple of tags on and not have it affect our positive output.

I suppose we'll play 2 rucks but on this ground rucking isn't as big a factor. There's less ground to cover and I wonder whether we're not better off with another in and under player who could be effective in the rolling scrimmages that can occur here.

Interesting one regarding ruck. I think that's where we can have a big advantage. I don't think Ladhams is a great ruck. Fort and Big O combo could help work him over later in game. The key will be the first half. If we start slowly then they can relax and pick us off on rebound in the second half. We stay with them early and make it a contested scrap we win I think.

Hi just had a question about ticket purchases to this game. It may be a dumb question but how do I purchase tickets to this game? Nothing is coming up on ticketmaster. I am a Vic member as well.
