We should be winning this game to make it 6 on the trot, we have beaten them comfortably of late and we are a better side now. Other than Breust(Gardiner) and Gunston(Adams) there is not much there that should have us worried other than their preferred game style which we have covered via Fagan and Hodge info.

Outs- Eric Hipwood(general soreness), Cam Rayner(omitted).

Ins- Toby Wooller, Ben Keays. > Ballenden or Skinner may also be a chance to come in for Hippy.

Eric looked way off last night, thankfully it looks like he got through the game OK but he may need another week off. I think Cam either needs a week off or a couple of weeks in the NEAFL to work on his touch.

In: Walker and Keays
Out Hipwood (Managed) Rayner (Omitted)

Keays was desperately unlucky to be dropped after the Port Adelaide game. His stats against Port were:

Ben Keays: 15 disposals 3 clearances 2 tackles and 2 goal assists.

Compare this with Cam Rayner for the same game.

Cam Rayner: 7 disposals 0 clearances 0 tackles 1 goal and 1 goal assist.

Once again, Fagan appears to have ignored Rayner’s indifferent form. So what happened last night? When the match was there to be won? Rayner didn’t get a single possession in the last quarter and his match stats were:

Cam Rayner: 6 disposals 0 clearances 2 tackles and 0 goal assists.

With Finals coming up and the side well placed to have a serious tilt at a Premiership, we can’t afford to have passengers getting games and no matter how great his promise and prospects for the future, Rayner has not repaid the faith and patience that Fagan has put into him. Also, consideration needs to be given to rewarding players who are working hard to gain senior selection and who do not seem to be afforded the same preferential treatment or degree of indulgence when they do crack it for a Senior game.

Hipwood on the other hand needs a rest. Based on last night, he came back too soon.

Cant see any unforced changes - it's been the thing all year to generally keep a winning side and our top players in there playing together each week. I agree Rayner could do with some NEAFL to get his touch back pre-finals but as we have seen that is very unlikely to happen. If the Hawthorn Vs Cats game continues as of half time we can't take any risks, we have had a couple of big weeks of travel and now another one to Tassie.

Hippy has another week to come good. If he’s right then you play him. Cam is still working hard but things just aren’t going his way. Probably worth giving him a week off to get his hands on it a bit more, Keays to come in.

I havent been able to watch recent neafl games so don't know who my preference would be to come in for hipwood but would like to see Keays in for Rayner too on form. I know we just resigned him but I wonder if we can get Corey Lyons in for Robbo to add something different, and even swap Lester for AdaMs and push him forward for Hipwood maybe. Jarman impey out for hawks with hyper extended knee will hurt them against us

We've put ourselves in contention so selection is critical from hereon . If Hippy is in the same condition as last night he shouldn't play. He and Adams were really sore after the game last night . All our guys try their best and it's hard potting anyone but if you asked me whom I'd prefer between Cam and Keays I'd say Keays. Cam just doesn't/hasn't done enough. Because that's unlikely to happen let's hope he reproduces his 3 vote effort in the same game last year.

Really proud of our win last night. So much didn't go our way and we still found a way. We looked tired , lots of guys likely to be sore ,particularly Lachie who kept getting dumped . Very light week on the track ,a couple of fresh players mightn't be a bad thing.

When was the last time we won 6 games in a row?

When was the last time we won 6 games in a row?
I don't know. Even in our glory years we had plenty of ups and downs and I would say maybe in our first premiership year after the Carlton game where we were just unbeatable is the last time we have won 6 or more.

It's hard to keep travelling and winning . Let's hope the guys can get up for it again in Tassie because after that we have 3 at home.

We won 20 in a row from the "if it bleeds" game.

When was the last time we won 6 games in a row?
In a clear season, it was between in 2002 (rounds 15 - 21) we won 7 seven in a row (we had a 6 point loss to Port in round 22 and then won our 3 finals games to win the flag).

Our best run was the 16 straight in 01 from round 10 onwards including the 3 finals. In 99 (I loved that season) we won 10 straight from round 15 to the prelim when North knocked us off by 45 points).

In a clear season, if we won next week, it would be the fourth best run of wins in the club's 23 year history.

I excluded consecutive wins between the end of one season and the start of another.

40% chance of rain and max of 13 forecast for Hobart next Saturday at this stage. I know Mccluggage and Bailey have been getting up but wonder if there is any risk of soft tissue for them that needs to be considered considering we are a lock for finals and dont need to risk them for this tassie fixture?

Hawks getting beaten by Geelong in centre clearances atm, but getting a lot of hitouts and marks inside 50 and leading by 3 goals. it seems it will be a different game for them in Tassie next week. Trying not to overthink it but with Adams marking coming on and Oscars form along with Mcstays contribution around the ground, I wonder what Mcinerney, adams and mcstay would look like up forward, with c.cameron, keays, christensen and linc rotating at their feet with the wet ball. I also dont think this forecast is suited to bringing in a neafl forward, better to do it against the bulldogs the following week and get some confidence with the lesser defence.

Lester would be ideal in defence with how the hawks are moving it as he can read the play so well and chop off any random centering balls inside their f50 and quickly distribute out of defence.

The game is in Launceston; North play out of Hobart.

woops should have checked in more detail but just figured its tassie. anyway its 60%chance of rain in launceston at this stage and same top of 13

As for changes; I'm going with Walker and Keays / Corey Lyons in and Hipwood (too underdone) and Rayner out.

I genuinely want Cam to do well, but he's been borderline invisible the past fortnight. His goalkicking is ineffective and the fact he's now not doing the I50 defensive work is worrying. As I was harping on months ago, send him back to the NEAFL for a few weeks just to get his touch and work on a few things (which countless others have had to do) then bring him back because he is an integral part of the side, particularly come finals time and it'd be awesome to have a fit and firing Rayner come September.
