I think Hipwood and most footballers need to learn how to play through these niggles.

Goose Maguire had to bash his leg into place before games. Johnno Brown would've played injured most of his career. Even in our game Ben Brown had half of one his legs strapped.

If we're going to wait until he's 100% after every injury he might not play that many games for us.

I thought he looked better as the game went on. Dished off a brilliant handball to set up Lyons in the last quarter.
I was at the game and none of us in our group of 8 saw him limping. I just think he had one of his quiet nights. With Brisbane kicking over the top and letting Charlie double back, especially with McArthuy and Bundy also coving the back paddock Hippy can get lost up in the half forward area.

Also at the game. Hippy was restricted and was limping at times. Limited his mobility however he did a couple a handy things in the 2nd half. Is a real competitor so at least you know he will keep coming.
Edit: Also had is player run off him late in the game knowing he was going to be slow off the mark

If Hippy doesn't have the same range of movement then I would be giving him a rest. The last thing we need against the hawks is Clarko putting Sicily on him and running off him most of the night because Hippy's mobility is restricted.

As for Rayner i'm really torn on him for this game. He played really well in the corresponding game last year, however he's a shadow of that player at the moment. Its reached the point for me that I would be looking to give him a run in the 2's on ball for as long as he can last just to get him involved some more and get his touch back, which seems to have deserted him. I'm all for giving guys with his ceiling games to work it out but its getting right to the limit of where you draw the line. If he was about to be dropped early in the year before an injury gave him a late in then I'd say he's back at the level he was before that reprieve so its probably time for a change.

As for who you bring in, I'd like to see Wooler get a run if both of those two are outs. I think his work up the ground to take someone away from the forward 50 could be important to help break up that zone a bit and he has the attributes to be effective if they don't pay attention to him. Either that or play Payne down back and throw adams up forward. Adams looked more dynamic last game but his kicking out of defence wasn't great so up forward its a bit less of a liability but still gives that athletic marking power up forward with Mcstay and the big o. As for the other in if both of Hipwood and Rayner go out, the obvious one is Keays i guess. We're still a bit light on in that mid size fwd role when you look at it. someone with some athleticism in that role would be handy. I guess we've been playing Bailey up there a bit more lately given the success of answerth down back now.
