Robbo started really well last night but faded as the game went on, he has battered his body throughout his career, maybe it is catching up with him, the end can come suddenly, he has been down on form this season.... he does turn 33 in a couple of months.

I really hate to say it because I do love Robbo, but on current form, I think he is the most easily replaceable player currently in the 22.

Do people really see Fagan dropping Robbo?

Yes. Why not?

He’s been incredible for us but is clearly approaching the end. I don’t think Fages will shy away from the tough conversation. Sometime this year it will happen.

Agreed, I really like the mix of our small fwds and would like to get another mid in somehow, I think I've come to Robbo going out for it.

Edit: Just had a look at gametime and Robbo has been below 70% in all but one game. Rayner and Lohman the only two below him last night, Zorko the only one below him against Geelong.

One thing in his favour is that we play GC this week.
One of his best games in his career last year against them.
If he plays another so so game, I think the pressure will start to seriously Mount.

Bit surprised at the talk of dropping Noah. I thought he's had a very solid start to the year, and would say to my eye he's even been more noticeably impressive as a defender than Starce so far.

I get trying to make room for Kiddy though, which is the dilemma. At the moment, I'd have Zorko forward, Lohmann out, and Kiddy in when that happens.

I don't think Nakia will be out for long either.
Completely agree Noah’s been pretty good and he’s really our only lock down small defender even when Coleman comes back.

Needs to improve his disposal but that’s been his issue even pre injury lay off.

My thinking exactly.

Have thought for a while that we, as contenders, can't play 2 with "agricultural" disposal, that we have with Berry and Robbo. And the other assets Berry brings out weigh Robbo's contribution.

Someone has to make way for Robertson as we really need another genuine midfielder.

low impact for cox kneeing starc.

Eh I don't know how they classify these things that but was a solid knock with the knee right to the back. starc looked hurt initially.

oh I guess that classification is location of hit? low as in below head... maybe i should stay away from commentating on tribunal stuff :p I know nothing!

We’re playing with one to many small/medium forwards at the moment, who aren’t impacting through the midfield enough.

Cameron
McCarthy
Rayner
Bailey
Lohman/Cockatoo

And we’re playing with three wingers.

McCluggage
Robinson
Ah Chee

This is leaving us very light on through the middle, with only three inside mids.

Neale
Lyons
Berry

We really do need to be dropping a small/medium forward or a wing to bring another mid (ahem; Robertson) in.

Yeah I agree. I found it very strange they opted not to use Cockatoo on the ball given he is fit enough to do so which indicates to me the club think our midfield rotations are sufficient. I am definitely leaning towards getting Robertson in or looking at getting Cockatoo back in and used around the ball.

I suspect we make no changes going into the Suns game though.

I'm a Tommy Berry fan this year and until they give him some games in the midfield and I can see he's not up to it I won't believe it.

I read a heap last week how our midfielders never run defensively. Mitch had 20 possessions, 9 contested and 85% of his possessions were in the back half. So he doing what majority of posters suggest we don’t do enough of but he is the gun to get dropped?

The discussion was about defensive running, you are correct, but it really should focus of 2 way running which is more pertinent to the weakness our side has.

If you watch the footage a lot of our midfielders set up on the offensive side or get to the offensive side before the ball is won, or too many players get drawn to the contest. That is why when the contest is lost ( which is usually the case for us) a lot of our players are chasing and just can’t catch up.

This is also the reason we kick high scores against weaker teams as we cheat with our running. We need a better balance of players when setting up

Son and his wife were at Wilston-Grange QAFL Club yesterday to watch a relative of hers who was playing.

They spotted Robbo there with his family and said hello

Robbo was cheerful and friendly. However, my son says he was obviously really ginger and sore, looked like he had a limp going and otherwise looked battered and bruised.

At nearly 33, there is no doubt the game will be taking it's toll on him , especially with his kamikaze style of play. Sometimes I worry for him when he throws himself headlong into the fray with little regard for his personal safety.

He's an admirable warrior and still at the level.

Surely soon however, he must consider hanging up the boots for his own longer term health and physical well being.
