It had a couple of 'mares during the AFLW season. So they have put it away for the time being.

I'd like to think they are working overtime in the background on getting it right, but the current administration seems to change their mind every 5 seconds so certainly not holding my breath.

I'm surprised the Ministry of Truth has kept that article online for you to reference.
Isn’t Eddie MaGuire the funding behind the chip in the ball technology, not the AFL.

After this weekend, in terms of clear best 23 players, only Starce on it really.
I think we’ve all forgotten how good Coleman is, who is still listed as 1-2 away.

Would have been a Norm Smith medallist had we beat Collingwood, and with the way they structured up against us last week, his kicking skills would have been a creative point of difference.

His return to the side will be a pleasant surprise I think. With Zorko’s dash to break lines, and his elite kicking skills, it gives us a couple of nice weapons to use.

Clueless premiership coaches letting their ego get in the way of premiership success
Would you back in Day against Wilkie? Or Marshall in the ruck or someone who has played well against Grundy/Gawn in Fort surely the pressure has to come for Day sooner than later

What are the chances Day actually has a good game for once he got smashed in the ruck last week a massive reason we lost every clearance when day was in the ruck surely he gets a run at VFL level soon

You could copy and paste this each week

After watching Doedee in the VFL last week, I think he absolutely should be in the team against St Kilda. He wasn't at his best, but he wasn't afraid of contact either, he fought hard for the ball. I firmly believe he's the answer to the Starce-shaped hole in our defence right now.
That's encouraging to hear re Doedee. Sounds like he's not shirking the tough stuff. A cpl more games to get some touch and a bit more confidence in the knee and he should start to really press for a start.

Could we do with a bit of Gardiner pressure and aggression in defense until Starce returns? I know they're still flirting with him fwd in the ressies but if he hasnt lost too much pace or agility because of the Acl, he could add a bit of starch back there. I think he will always be a better back than he will ever be as a fwd. He can play on the med/sm as well as the taller fwd. He should be able to slot in without much disruption.

Softly softly with Kiddy I'd reckon. No rush, few games in the ressies, build some confidence, find his kicking boots. I'd be looking at after the bye to squeeze him in. He should be well ripe by then.

Maybe last week was just an off night for the defence. It's been going OK. But I'll say it again that Fletcher is more valuable on the wing than back, and he is by no means the plug to fill the Starcevich hole.

Hopefully they bounce back this week. They're a proud unit those backs.

Statistically speaking, our defense isn’t actually going that well, we are about tenth in that category - we are pretty well outside the so-called premiership window there. We need to tighten it up. Attack wise we are there or thereabouts but defense, we are t great and well behind the league’s current best by some distance. We sit 10th in defense and 7th in attack. We really seem to be over achieving somewhat. I expect us to lose the next two weeks if the defense doesn’t tighten up significantly.

He got concussed again in the VFL this weekend.

The repeat ones and ones that cause exercise triggered migraine and head pain are scary.

Does anyone know what is the 'game' sport, with the highest concision rate (obviously excluding any combat sports)? Is it afl?

We've lost Marcus Adams, Jonathan Brown, Matt Maguire, Justin Clarke , Jack Frost. Any others?

Mitch Robinson has spots on his brain scan likely from concision. I'm sure there are many more with the same.

I know many disagree but I'm happy for rules to change if it means less concussive.

He is fine imo. The Day will come when you realise this too.
nah unless he kicks 40 goals I'm not going to give him an out the most goals he's kicked in a season is 19 so he's likely not to that especially with an average 33.00 % goals so far this season with one
Yeah. He rucks pretty well against rucks under 7 foot tall
Does he though I’m yet to see him win a hitout

No everybody else thinks he’s amazing though
No one on this board has said Day is amazing.
You are just making things up due to your hate on the selectors selecting a player you believe belongs in the VFL

The best i recall from posters is he is "doing his job bringing the ball to ground".
Stating some basic stats that i have recently done is just to bring some common sense to the debate on how he is going.
Day has improved each game this year and i hope for the Lions sake that continues.
He defiantly has a ceiling and that should be his aim this year along with playing a full season be it AFL or combined AFL & VFL.

The selectors will drop Day as well as any player if they think a change is warranted.
If that happens i won't be jumping up and down for joy like you will.
I also won't argue with a change but observe to see if a change works.

Looking at the 4 pages so far on this thread.
You have made 7 posts all of them knocking Day.
How about coming up with something else. I know it's a forum, but variety helps a lot.

Might need to start watching us play then

Hopefully the Day experiment has ended. He’s been in the system for over a decade and somehow still gets a game. The old if you’re 200cm tall you get 7 years minimum to prove yourself holds true for Day. He’s done nothing in his career. Can anyone tell me what he brings to the team besides being tall for “structural reasons”?

Easy question: specifically, what can Day provide that Fort can’t? And broadly, is Day a better player than premiership ruckman and goal and game Fort?

Running patterns, etc.

As you said; structural reasons. Fort is a ruck, not a forward
