Scott also stated Henry would most likely move back so we can say that will happen with some certainty. Be interesting to see how we restructure forward/2nd ruck and fix our out of form players.
Worries for me going into this game is the form of Bews (lockdown defender who concedes goals, doesn't use it well and doesn't get it much at all), Kolo (c grade defender who makes crucial errors under pressure) Guthrie (poor in contest, makes shit choices and can't win the ball , disgracefull for an experienced player formerly in leadership group) Narkle (not up to it just yet, good first game then relatively poor) Joel (carrying an injury? slow, kicks lack penetration) . We won't compete with Richmond carrying passengers.

Thurlow should come in, leave Henry forward. Crameri is too slow for Richmond.

Only chance is if we win in the midfield and lower the eyes and hit targets on the lead.

Given that its a 6 day break and they have locked in a top 2 spot if we cant beat them next week we are no chance in finals.

Still think if they apply enough pressure that our skills will get exposed.

No Thurlow. We need hard edged players willing to be physical.

Jones comes in for Stewart and Henry goes back.
No Jones he's not so called hard edge. Not up to it yet, small forward who aside from one game doesn't lay tackles and definitely doesn't kick goals, got dropped due to form so why bring him back when he hasn't shown any vfl form.

If they deliver to Hawkins like they have the last few weeks, Rance as 3rd man up isn't as effective. It gives Hawk the chance for the quick lead with the ball out in front of him.
Do we need the second ruck as much against the Tigers, or do we need a smaller hard runner?
Who does Scooter go to?
Will Bews perform a lock down role on one of the Tigers fwds?
How do Hendo, Henry, Taylor and Kolo match up against the fwds?
Blitz to Riewoldt? Has the tank, height and speed to go with him.
Do the Tigers mids try for a possession shootout with Ablett, Dangerfield, Duncan and Selwood?

It's a strange time being Richmond's bitch - I remember the days when we were the top dog and handing out smackings left right and centre. Richmond used to be on the receiving end.

We still have not played a good 4 quarters - this team struggles with consistency and game plan at the MCG. I really hope Scott has accepted his coaching needs work at the MCG and we offer up something fresh.

You've lost 2 in a row.
Hardly our bitch, yet. Hopefully you become it though :D.

Could be a close game this one imo. A few richmond players looking tired, though I'm sure Geelong have a few too, and might be a little bit of a letdown after the big match against the pies and securing the MCG win streak record.
Wait and see.

I'd love to see big games from Hawkins and Riewoldt at either end.

Because we need a small forward who applies pressure and can kick goals. Not another lazy half back flanker who disappears under his own shadow when the ball is in dispute. Or we could go with Crameri and push Henry back.

What a bummer losing our best back in Stewart. Tigers will surely put the clamps on Tuohy and encourage Kolo and Bewsy to be our distributors. :( Perhaps Thurlow with his better than average foot skills and pace (to handle a small forward) will get his opportunity.

With Joel and to a lesser degree Paddy struggling with form/niggles we will be the firm underdogs going in.

Stranger things have happened and if Hawk continues his goal spree ya never know.

Realistically I'd be surprised if we get within 4 goals come final siren.

With the looming absence of our backlines spiritual leader there is only one option. Quite frankly I am astounded no one has mentioned it yet. Break the glass, this is an emergency - Enright to play :moustache:
Oh, if only....

Crameri has to come back in to the forward line and young Jack heads to the back line.

I don’t rate Crameri. But slow is one thing he’s not.

Much tougher without stewart. If we can get close we have done well.
The midfield have to win the ball first and keep it out of our defence.

Also the small forwards in particular have to keep it in our forwardline when it goes down there.

Sounds simple but if the game is played in our back half we will lose and lose big. But if we get to the ball first then we're a chance.

We lost the QF to them and then lost this year by 3 goals.
Hardly bitches - Bitch would entail rolling over to the tune of 30 goals like the video suggested we did to them.

Can we get better - surely.
Do we need to - absolutely - but hardly their bitches.

The QF result was big.. That last quarter they bent us over backwards on the big stage... It was bad... Lets see what Scott has learnt tactically and if our players have the ability to perform for 4 quarters. Will also be keeping an eye on the perennial players who have a very very bad habit of going missing in the big games on the big stage. I don't need to list them.

Will be interesting to see how we work through not having Stewart in the squad. Hope Bews isn't too sore as his run would be useful.

I think Richmond will be training on blocking Hawkins' leads, so I would be in Tom's ear all week telling him how he was going to smash anyone fool enough to get in his path. Take no prisoners.

I think we need to work on the kick in. Selwood took some against Lions. We need to be sharp here and on the next move if we want to get out of the defensive half of the field.

I doubt they will make too many changes with the vfl team having the bye.

Sounds like Stewart will be out and Henry will go back. Dont need extra kpds or a 2nd ruck against Richmond. Probably Crameri or McCarthy in to fill the vacant fwd spot, i doubt they will pick Thurlow i tend to think his papers are stamped.

Please put Scooter as a hard tag on Martin don't let him run free.

The keys to beating Richmond.

- play more direct by use of foot rather than handballing through the press. You play into their hands when you handball as they love nothing better than to swarm their opponents with pressure and then stream forward in numbers after creating the turnover. You need to kick the ball over their swarming defense and create one on one forward targets. With Hawkins in form he can expose Rance deep if we move the ball in quick. Richmond back their teammates in close to win the ball and then create spare numbers going forward which gives them an overlap where they're hard to stop.

- our forwards need to be accountable. Short, Vlastuin etc run hard off half back to create extra numbers. Running hard to man those targets also opens up the forward half should we create the turnover. We can't give them easy ball movement out wide. it's what lost us the game last time we played.

- Richmond generally have either Cotchin or Edwards playing defensive side of the centre bounce moving in a direct line towards goal. I've watched quite a bit of their games and this is how they create clearances and easy inside 50 attacks. They have someone who blocks for them to create that space for them to run through out of the centre. They link up via a chain of quick handballs and they're out. Scooter needs to play on either one and stand directly in front to limit their run towards goal.

- don't allow their tall defenders to set up the wall in the centre of the ground when the ball is in our defense. They use this to their advantage. They force a quick kick from the their forward 50 stoppage where they have the numbers out the back. We need to be more careful moving the ball from defense and spot up targets rather than kicking blindly under pressure. Force the ball wide if we have to.

- close down the space in the middle of the ground and force them wide.

- win the the contested possessions.

Off the wall selection, but id like to see Miers come in.
Strikes me as a big game player and would be interesting to see what he does.
We know Jones aint really an answer this year, and can we just forget about Linc.
Also its time to bring in Z.Smith. See if we can stretch the Tiges with 2 proper rucks.
Not really expecting to win so worth trying a couple of things.
In: O'connor, Miers, Smith
Out: Stewart, Kolo, Guthrie
