I thought Pearce had quite a good record against Ben King but there's only been 2 previous encounters between them in '21 and '23 (at Optus and Norwood) where Pearce has kept him quiet. Ben King has only played against us 3 times out of the last 6.

There’s a close up that shows Moose’s eyes come off the ball and onto the oncoming player just before impact. It’s too late for Moose to change direction but I think that close up is responsible for the suspension.

Every time Angus Brayshaw sees a decision like this he must wonder why his career wasn't even worth a suspension.

I'm extremely disappointed in the AFL. Pearce was contesting the ball and had a reasonable belief that nobody was in his way. Therefore it was not careless. To be careless you'd have to think, "There is a bloke in my way, and I might hit him, but I might not, so what the heck, I'll take my chances."

My go-to logic in these situations is, "Would he have done anything different if it was a player on his own team?" And I don't think he would have or could have done anything differently.

Non-Vic tax, I'm not surprised. Not that I agree.

What would an appeal even do, take it from three weeks to what?

I am at the point where an appeal is just time and money wasted. We all know it.

Did Pearce even make head high contact?

When I watched it at normal speed an hour or so ago, the way Darcy Byrne-Jones landed was hard. Got knocked off his feet and dropped without being able to protect himself before he hit the ground. Probably some impact with head onto ground there as well the body rattling hit by 100kgs. (NB: Weight estimation not based on AFL stats).

Finlayson coming in and acting like it was intentional didn't help.

It's stupid because the player who has shown the least duty of care in that play is DBJ to himself.

Yes exactly, but this is why I told youse all he will go, just like Wright.
Wright should never have been suspended, if the Sydney bloke hadn't shown complete disregard for his own safety Wright would have had a simple mark. But the tribunal in their wisdom ruled the bloke moving towards the ball has the duty of care to the bloke coming back with the flight. It's rubbish but the precedent was set.
Longmuir was dead right, what the AFL are in effect saying is players now have to pull out of contests to protect other players even if it's not what their coaches want them to do

Any chance we could give Voss a bit of a run down back?

He has that demon energy and gets to so many contests that he would halve things in the air.

Still bring in Draper but play him on one of the Suns medium forwards. Maybe Aishy in for Simpson?

This is really stupid but we all know it's true - it was either not worthy of a suspension or was three weeks.

Very silly system because there's no in between for a careless action (I wouldn't even grade it that). Was three weeks as soon as it was decided it was worth anything tbh.

Hope JL sticks by his words no matter the final outcome. We don't want our players pulling out of that contest. If Pearce keeps his eyes on the ball after the last split second it's probably two concussions instead of one tbh.

Don't know how bracing yourself see's your arm flop behind you. There is no way anyone would have been able to have changed direction at that pace. And the picture of his eyes going to Byrne-Jones? Well watch the trajectory of the ball. His eyes went to where the ball was heading, which was bouncing off Byrne-Jones. 3 weeks ridiculous.

There's absolutely zero chance Pearce gets off because we all know the tribunal will completely ignore everything our lawyer says, but they better try and make a huge public stink about it rather than meekly accepting getting rogered.

I'd be bringing up Worner getting knocked out by McCarthy. A little bit different, but more similar than the Wright incident which has been brought up.

Trying to look on the bright side, and it is quite possible Pearce wouldn't be the difference in any of our upcoming games. GC would be heavily favoured to beat us with him playing, and then we will still be heavily favoured to beat Essendon and North without him. But if King or Wright kick a bag and we narrowly lose ...

I think Aish is done at AFL level so I feel like Coops injury highlights how much we need to draft another genuine HBF this offseason because we can not go back to that land of the Giants backline unless no other option.

We appear short in a few areas.

Half back, half forward, forward pocket, winger.

I am not sure we have depth in any area with outside players

Whan could start off half back or wing for next year.

Does Reid have the defensive work ethic to end up a mid. I don't see a reason he doesn't end up a great inside winger.
