everyone calling Spargo fat should post a shirtless pic tbh. Show us how elite and

i get it... but like i also don't get paid 6 figures to keep fit
I don’t get my 6 figures to keep fit either but I do. Comes down to genetics though. Some of us can just tick over and keep rock hard. Others like Charlie need to be all in

This game is a test of the team's maturity. They can demonstrate that they either have or haven't developed the ability to stay switched on mentally and keep working for their teammates even when they can't see the reward at the end of it. I don't think we're a good chance of winning this game, obviously, but whether it's a flogging or a loss that was within reach still matters massively, and if it's the usual suspects dropping their heads and giving up, it will indicate whether things have actually changed. Beating up on sides that happen to have gotten worse than us is less indicative than that. They need to believe that they can challenge Brisbane and they need to keep believing it after Brisbane get a run of goals.

FWIW, I do think Good Friday was a massive positive indicator of this and the talk from the club makes me think that this has been a focus, and that it's moving in the right direction. But now we need to see how it stacks up against the best team in the league.

Very good summary - losing is not the problem here (if indeed we do lose).

It will be the manner in which we show up, compete and not give up - that will be the key to see whether we have matured or not.

Cmon. Why should we be hoping to not lose badly?

Let’s go knock these campaigners off.
Would be an all time win considering we’re missing X, FOS and….Pink.

Sorry. I had to.

I hope the message from Clarko is to bring the contest and turn it into a scrap.

Even if they run over us in the end, there is something definitely to draw positives from taking it up to Brisbane the B2B premier and causing them another headache following last years draw in Tassie.

A win tomorrow would be all time.

Don't get me wrong, we absolutely can win this game. We have contested grunt, we have absolute silk on the outside that can perform miracles, we have guys up forward who can take a clunk and turn an average forward entry into a goal, which gets more important the faster the game becomes. What we're missing is cohesion and unconditional hard work. It could all just go right on the day, it's just less likely when a group hasn't played as much together.

We have had a good start to the season, as long as they believe they are good enough to not just stay close but match them we could be surprised.

Wouldn’t that get us up and about, just bring your best boys.

A win takes us to 4-1 with a ruck-less, Lynch-less Richmond to come. I'm certainly not expecting it, but getting to 4-1 with a chance to go to 5-1 would get a lot of people to sit up and take notice if they weren't already

I agree that I hope they turn it into the type of game that looks like shit on TV. It's a 12:35 AEDT game being played in the Barossa, as off Broadway as it gets, nobody is watching anyway. May as well make it a game that we have a better than even chance to win

I ranted at the changes last week but after watching the VFL it's hard to argue the coaches weren't right.
Dawson and Matlock need more time developing and have to put some better VFL games together.
Hardemann looked like he's getting back into the swing of things, not quite there yet to come back in.
Wouldn't have minded Dawson in as ruck for CCJ but he copped a corky.
Goad not quite ready yet being first game back, maybe ready for a Tigers debut?

As for this week Spargo/Kont/Fisher were the most likely choices to replace FOS as bigger bodies.
Spargo looked a level above, despite looking underdone.
I think he'll prove me wrong getting back to what he can do and will give us some good inside 50 delivery.
Konstanty was okay, pressured and kicked a few nice goals which was good to see, keep building the offensive side.
Fisher got lot of ball, not accountable, someone how kicks the ball up the chimney on his preferred, misses the goal.
And that's early in the game, later on he drills one from outside 50.
Just truly a baffling footballer between the ears.

Hansen Jnr got a lot of ball but was poor defensively conceding a bunch of goals, but he is learning a new role.
Dovaston against the Lions big bodies not the wisest move the bring him in.
Scott was not good enough given his experience. Harvey is making some strides defensively but just okay.
BGeorge had a good quarter with 4 goals, but doesn't have the fitness and four quarters in him yet. Keep building.
Mikunda it's too early, just keep learning half back/wing roles and get in the gym.

Spargo was the classy stand out. Might as well start getting paid in the 1s. Lougies form was there abouts. Essential in if Pink is crook.

Have to say, whether a young player needs further development or not, doesn't change the fact that we're running with a clutch of senior players who continually prove they struggle at the highest level.

Given that our younger players are starting to take control of the fortunes of the team, the greatest challenge for Clarko is to stop his dependance on those below average senior guys. They're an anchor.

Despite some good signs, we're not seriously contending this year, so we should be pumping games into the likes of Dawson and Whitlock.

If we can match them in the midfield like last time then we can certainly be competitive. I would be rapt to get within 3-4 goals and if we win, then pants off.
Ill be singing and pants off to Eagle Rock if we win.

Roo pub at the Brew pub in Clifton Hill tomorrow 😎 hop in if you’re wondering where to watch the match. Happy hour prices, raffle with great prizes, excellent food, dedicated North room and likely to be a big crowd tomorrow with expectations high!

Ideally for me Simpkin or Powell start at half forward with Curtis starting at centre bounce, then make the switch post centre bounce. Think Dusty & Lambert rotation or Petracca & Neal-Bullen. Mainly for when Wardlaw is off the ground. Should be able to recreate FOS’s impact in composite. A similar thing to be done with Trembath & CCJ/Darling.

My watch/fear is the backline matchups. Assume Comben resumes his role on the big forward taking Allen. Logue will most likely have to play on Rayner, switching onto Morris when Draper is forward.

If we can break even at stoppage, defensively they have Coleman, Zorko and Fletcher who are similar size/defensive capability wise to McKercher, Daniel, Blamires but the system is better, however they don’t really have a good matchup for Duursma, Curtis or Zurhaar. Assuming Lester takes Larkey and Andrews will largely be free all day rolling off Darling. Gallop will get Trembath when he’s forward which is another matchup to look at. Andrews similar to Weitering early last week means we can’t just bomb it in and utilise the extra height and marking ability that way but if we can isolate our mediums in one on ones with their smalls we can score.

In capitalising on the above, obviously ball use is paramount, ability to cause turnover in fwd half has to stay high as it has been, but most notably speed on the ball has to improve.

The team now knows that hanging in there and not giving up delivers tangible results. That a huge advantage. With Larkey at the helm, he’ll keep driving the team forward now. From here on in, we won’t give up.
