Broadly speaking, we’re just shifting chairs on the Titanic now. Outside of Maynard, this is our cattle going forward. It’s all about playing as a cohesive unit now. Also, we have to go harder for longer. Do that - we win. No ifs, buts or maybe’s about it.
This cattle should be able to perform at the Melbourne game level. Even if better teams get on top of us as Melbourne couldn’t - which to me was kind of the Western and Adelaide game experience, and a fair part of the Suns game - they won’t be embarrassed like the way they let themselves down in the rest of that game and the Sydney one.

Needs to be another statement or at least not the standard in's and out's.

Zurhaar is offering nothing overall. 9 possessions and a goal on the weekend. Thanks Cam you overpaid sack of shit. Focus on your cooking and **** off. Who else needs to go? McKercher obviously, needs to stop sleeping in his racing car bed and realise that he's actually a big boy now and play like a ****ing man. Take your pick with the other out.

Phillips is average but our midfield functions better with him. Wardlaw and Archer are obvious ins.

Tactically I'd give Powell more time playing at half forward. He does lift his head and find the short option inside 50 better than our other guys and he's not winning it enough in midfield. I think his best role for us is some midfield, more time forward.

So now you're defending the umpires?

Even if he didn't go back off the mark far enough it was still a 50!!! Stand rule is a joke but its still a rule.

He should have had a shot on goal from 15m out.
We cannot control what the umpires pay and don’t.

We can only control what we do.

Jy should have gotten back off the mark quicker and further he can control that and didn’t. He’s a senior player and open to critique for it.

Whether it was 50 or not is irrelevant we cannot control that and the umpires are never going to give us level ground. We need to accept it and plan for it by not giving them an in.

Maybe he should have got back further off the mark but the point of the stand rule is to enable what he did - attempt to move the ball quickly. He kicked it as soon as it had been returned to him. If he'd gone back another two metres that might have been enough to allow th GC to flood back and intercept the kick. The rule exists to prevent that happening whether you like the rule or not.

What you are saying is that players should play in a way that anticipates the umpires making poor decisions that disadvantage us. I reckon they already play that way and it causes us problems - that is ****ed and will cause them to second guess what they do and you see that in games once obvious decisions start going against us.

The teams that beat us up were quick and agile. Dogs and Dees and hopefully Carlton are not particularly gifted in that area so we should build ascendancy. Until we fix the mix in the middle (requires George and an aggressive Colby), we simply can't go with the more attacking teams.

Unfortunately for us, we are not capable of playing at a level that removes the umpires from the equation. I’ve always noticed that the teams that are getting on top immediately start to get the “rub of the green” with the umpires.
I go into every game totally numb to umpire decisions against us, getting reactive and angry over them isn't worth it, especially for Good Friday.

We could move it to Super Saturday where no one watches unless they have Fox Footy

Go figure, Gather Round, the marquee round and all that BS and wats on FTA…the battle between 2012 and Mrs Doubtfire

Wat a joke of a deal
100% farce.

No FTA broadcast of AFL on a Saturday is absolutely absurd. Surely even Foxtel should acknowledge that the game will suffer if it's smothered by denying at least one FTA Saturday game.

Whoever it was from the AFL who came up with the deal or who agreed to it is an idiot.

Huge game for us this week. Arguably the first game we should be expecting to be able to win with no excuses since the Melbourne one. Club has to make a statement on field this week.

We have improved to some degree we should be much more competitive in our now traditional time slot .
Carlton blues umpires will need to come out hard early to stop any momentum from centre clearances.

Booked my ticket a while ago, now I'm ready to (a) be hurt again (b) get the bloody chocolates for once!

Either way, for some sick, twisted reason, I'm looking forward to the match.

We've also got a coach who is scared to piss off the AFL because of his previous indiscretions so he presents as a character in a Seth Rogen film. We have had some horrible umpiring (not result impacting outside of the Collingwood game) that has made us more uncompetitive in some games than we should've been and every time it happens... crickets from the club.

Other clubs wouldn't stand for it. Other coaches would have a crack. If it keeps happening and the club continues to be silent about it then the treatment won't change.
